Help with electrical upgrade. Opinions needed

As of right now I have a 250 amp alternator, supposedly puts out 150 at idle. 2 xs d3100 1 in front and 1 in rear. Big 3 is done. I am running about 2500 watts ( 2 alpine pdx 1.1000 and alpine f4 (4*100)) off of one run of zero gauge wire. What is the max watts I can upgrade to before I start looking into a bigger alternator or a 2nd one. Also when do I start adding more runs of zero gauge.

depends on your usage and how brave you are.. I'd personally get nervous around 3500 with that setup.

as always run a voltage meter and the electrical system itself will tell you when too much is too much.

I believe that 2 d3100s are good for 10k watts but don't quote me on that....

It depend´s for what you realy want to use your system. Going to comp´s, daily beater. For a dayli setup i would do not more than 5 K on amps

and sometimes the batt´s on the charger.

Just keep an eye on the voltage and turn it down for a little while when the voltage starts to get low. Time is the major variable that nobody takes into consideration. You can run 10,000 watts on a stock alternator, just not for very long before voltage falls to an un-safe level.

If you want to hammer 5K WRMS all day long without voltage drop, look into a bigger or additional alternator.
