MaSa
I had the second gen in my corolla. please do NOT buy high output alternator from eBay. they are garbage. I've made that mistake twice. don't do it Thanks for the advice! I know those "highoutput" alternators form ebay are garbage. Any brands you suggest to ask a price for bigger alt? I know Mechman and Singer. Prices are propably on same level (300-400 dollars)...? Manufacturer links? Cardboardcat15
Yep, you've got the 1st gen 4afe. And If I were you, I wouldn't go with Mechman unless they've revamped their unit for this car since the last time I've bought from them. I ordered their "drop in" 220 unit which was supposed to fit in the stock location. $200 extra dollars later I ended up with a modded alternator bracket for an alt that barely fits in the stock location and doesn't charge at idle. Not bashing Mechman, but I was on the phone with them back and forth about the alt issue because it didn't fit/charge. DC power offers a 180 amp unit, and since I live 10 minutes away from the office I visited them and I actually held their model for this engine in my hands. Didn't install it, but the case was far smaller than the mechman, and the bolt points seemed to match up on the bracket. They machine the housing for the alt in house, according to what I was told. Just letting you know my personal experience. Hopefully you can find a nice unit for this car. My Channel on YouTube. MaSa
Lol about the Mechman. With those prices you shoud get some high quality stuff. At work I made some research today (thank God I´m selling spare parts) . Found bigger alternator from Bosch. 2 of these alternators 120A should put more power to the batteries and getting higher voltage. Now using stock Denso 60-70A, new possible alternator 120A. Gotta do bracket if I go with two. Some pics: Left stock Denso, right Bosch. Cardboardcat15
Oh, it's an alright alt, just doesn't fit. Lmao. You getting rid of the AC condenser? I didn't think it;d be possible to put put alts on such a tiny engine! Hope it all goes well, post some pics of the alt bracket if you decide to go with two! My Channel on YouTube. MaSa
Don´t have AC so there is room enough for two alts. Gotta do some calculations and try to fit them. Yep, it´s misleading. 26hz and 4cm ride height. Lol. The lip or rockers are no where near the asphalt. Unless there is some metal under the car that's 4cm off the ground. I'm just used to seeing lowered VW's where the lip and rockers are on the ground. Carry on.
