BEEMDUB
I finally took the time and made a mold of the space where I want my EQ, Voltmeter, and halo switch to go, right now its a pretty good fit and I got the mat on there too. My next step is sanding it and then building it to its final shape..How would you guys do it? I was thinking obviously that the eq will be in the middle as high as it can be without hitting the pieces behind the bezel and that the voltmeter and switch would go below it.. heres some pics to help explain the first pic is the configuration I'm goin for. Also how should I go about putting the body filler on it, should I put it all over and smooth it out and then cut the holes for the EQ and the other things or should I do it another way? ThreehundredC
looks good. ive seen someone build a gauge pod using that same base just added some little rings over the mold. n fleeced. but that is nice too
mbdblue
are you using the wooden piece as just a template or using it to mount everything? The wooden piece was simply to show how I want everything to look I'm not using that actual piece for nothing I don't even know where it is now lol
mbdblue
theres nothing I hate more than sanding really concave glass surfaces man...but assuming your cutting the holes with a dremel (probably the easiest way), Id cut them after you've smoothed out the surface. I always made the mistake of cutting them early and then trying to be extra careful not to sand too close and end up widening them up, leaving gaps and shit when everything's finally mounted. I actually just got a dremel 3000 yesterday which bit should I use to cut the holes ? And also do you mean cut the holes after the filler is on and sanded too? mbdblue
Yeah I would cut the holes after its filled and sanded...and Id use the little cut-off wheel to cut the holes out. BEEMDUB
Sorry the pics are shi*ty but heres some pics of what I have now after I sanded and shaped quite. I'm just trying to decide what to do next because one wrong move of taking away any of it will throw off the shape and I'll most likely just screw it up
BEEMDUB
Heres what I got done today.. those last couple pictures show what angle I'm trying to get the eq at I also want to get my little voltmeter, and two 1 inch switches below it..For the eq I can cut a hole in the panel and slide it about 50% back so that its recessed back up in the center console, and then my thoughts were that I would have to stretch fabric over the eq on that angle..?
