Hellbilly's 2010 Cobalt Build

Yeah, I was in home and commercial audio and electronics for about 17 years but I never enjoyed that as much as car audio. So now that I'm older and wiser (I think), I'm gonna go back to car audio and frankly, if it works I'll never have to work another day of my life because building speaker boxes and wiring auto electronics is like play time for me.

And for the last ten years I've been doing remodeling, real estate investing and property management so I've gathered up quite the handy set of woodworking and metalworking tools.

Next step is to find a house with a shop behind it or enough land that I can build one. I don't plan to have a retail store because I don't want regular retail business and I damn sure don't want to be installing cheap radios and GPS units for car dealers. I was raised by a car dealer and the bastards are notoriously cheap and demanding, lol.

I have a build coming up on an 8kw Yukon with 4 DD 9518s in it and once that's finished and in some shows, I should have a steady flow of the kind of work I want to do. He had a 4th order wall built by some guy who only used two layers of baffle and the rest of the box is just single layer 3/4 MDF with one little 2x2 vertical brace in the middle. Needless to say, the box is coming apart. My goal is to put those 18s in a t-line.

And yeah, just in the short time since I've made the decision to start this business my overall stress level has dropped and my happiness level has increased by orders of magnitude. And I'm a pretty happy guy to begin with so... gotta love it.

As for peons... I'll still be wearing biker boots and t-shirts with the sleeves cut out if and when I get rich. And they'll still have paint and shit all over em... Only difference will be that I'll have nicer toys. :-)

Ok so spent most of the day driving 2 hours to go get some new shoes, but did get some work done

Got to use my new flush trim bit

Rounded over 3/8" and sanded

Trim ring for port too

First coat of primer (forgot to take shot with trim ring primered)

And 2 coats primer done all the way around

Looks amazing! Did you use a foam roller or??? Are you gonna do anything about the screw holes or no? Looks fine as is, seems as though you spaced them out evenly which makes it look beefy, I like it!

Yeah, dollar store foam roller right there, lol. I am not going to hide the screws, I will have the trunk sealed off and the only thing that will be visible when I'm done is the front baffle, and I decided fuck it, it looks cool with screw holes in it, lol
