OrionStang
Just got back from a short drive, and while I was out, the music started cutting out. Like go out for a split-second then be right back to normal. It does it every 1 to 2 minutes. Its a very very quick cut out. Only thing I can think is remote wire which I have run through a relay then to the amp. So, the question: Can a failing relay go off and on as I described above? I am going to try bypassing the relay tomorrow (too dark now), just want to hear some ideas. SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
will77530
mine was doing that a while back couldnt figure it out sense it would always do it while driving...finally went and sat in a parking lot and played music until it happened found out my voltage was dropping into the nines for a split second because the wire connecting in the fuse holder had oxidized
OrionStang
Just a little more info: when it cuts off and on, the deck stays on, not even a flicker. On the amp, the power light stays on, but the protect light blinks quickly then goes out. SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread

LukeYoung
I have had guys come to me with fuel pump issues saying there car starts intermittently. I would change the fuel pump but they had the same issue, so I'd scratch my head. Take a sh*t then get back to it. Just for giggles I switch out the relay. And BAM the issue went away. I could see your issue being a relay issue, at the same time my buddy's cheap ab amp did that and we switched it out and it solved the problem. So good luck. 1998 Subaru Forester S DC 7.5K And DC 175.4 270XP DC Alternator One XS 5100R Three XS Power XP3000 All XS Power Wire Two SMD 18's I ONLY POUND BLOCKS AND PUSSY

Lbox88
If the contacts are getting dirty and it is in a position where it is susceptible to a lot of movement and vibration it could be possible...... Hell relays are cheap as shit, hit up a radioshit... er, radioshack, and swap in a new one real quick. UBL | Build Log
sbg
I think it could do that, when a relay is going out some times it will surge like what you are saying, I just had my battery going dead in my truck like a month ago and when I test lighted my battery my window relay was surging making my battery die when the truck was off. Soon after the relay went all the way out. 01 focus se 110 amp alt Big 3 sky high and stinger hpm ofc 1/0 Super start platinum AGM (starting) 2 runs of 1/0 Execution audio front to back Kenwood double DIN DDx271 A pillars- orion 4" super tweeter and 2-1" alpines.
