How to properly install high amperage amplifier?

How do you properly connect power/ground on an amp that is over 1k rms.

I have noticed that amps will arc when connecting the ground and I notice it much more in the 3k and up range.

So how do you correctly connect power and ground?

Is it power first, then ground?

Ground then power?

I've also heard, ground then use a light tester probe on the pos wire first and let it charge up the caps in the amp, then connect?

So how do you do it and prevent arcing from happening bc that cannot be good to the soldered joints

I ALWAYS connect the power first and triple check to make damn sure + and - are exactly what is supposed to be where it needs to be before i ever connect the ground wire.

Don't be scared, that spark isn't hurting anything. Doesn't matter which one is connected first. But I do ground first, unless I have the RCAs unplugged, because if you have the RCAs plugged in the amp is grounded and if you connect power it is completing the circuit thru the RCA shield .

So on a DC 9k or something like that with a huge pop nothing happens?

I dont care if it is a 50k amp and the spark is a mile long, it don't matter lol.

9K should make a nice arc

Arcs at the amp?

Never experienced that, but I've been shocked by enough spark plug wires I disconnect the battery when hooking up amp's, lol. Only a little spark there if any.
