Need a second battery don't know what help

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I'm finally getting a new system with a new H.O Alternator a 250A Singer Alternator. I was told that I would need a second battery for in the trunk of my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo the problem is I don't know if I need a small battery or a big battery I am actually trying to go the cost effective route. I am going to be running at least a 3000 watt system with 3 amplifiers two subwoofer amplifiers and one speaker amp. The subwoofer amplifiers are two SK-1500.1D's both at 1 ohm powering Skar Audio ZVX's both at 1 ohm and the speaker amp will probably be a SK-125.4D powering 2 sets of VXI64 6.5" speakers. I was told that I do not need to upgrade my stock battery under the hood which is a Duralast Gold but I do need however a second battery to be able to handle this new system and new alternator.

But, I do not know what kind of battery I need to put back in the trunk of my Jeep. Nor how big it has to be or if it can be small.

Take some measurements on where you want your battery to see which ones will fit as well

Biggest one I can afford? I know nothing about batteries for cars should I go with another duralast gold, optima, I don't know I'm just looking for cost effective. I don't think the measurements would matter because I'm just sticking it in the trunk of my car. Just as long as it is a reasonable size, isn't to too big and fits either on the side of my subwoofer box or in front.

I don't really want to change out the under the hood battery if I don't have it its practically new, plus the person I talked to Mike Singer who is selling me the 250A Alternator told me that I don't have to change out the stock battery, and that I just need a second battery for the trunk. What kind of XS battery?

Sorry should have mentioned to look at XS power

But that remy battery looks damn good. But it hasn't been proven as XS has.
