benefits of building over buying

Recommended Posts

Building your own has really become SUPER easy. Its almost like putting together legos at this point. Everything in the computer only goes in 1 way, some of its color coded, and if you buy quality parts that arent bleeding edge, everything should be pretty much automatic.

Yea I'm really considering building one.

Are there certain brands to shy away from? Or certain ones you would recommend

I'm mainly using the computer for school work but maybe light gaming since I could make one capable of gaming now.

Most computer products like Processers and graphics cards, are normally all OEM items, where it is the same chip from the main manufactuerer, but a factory throws their own case and fans on it, and sells it. If you really want to build your own PC, I would suggest looking up how each component of a PC works so you can atleast get a understanding of what to look for.

I'll admit, half way through sanding that fiberglass in the rain and cold while I was all itchy I was definitely starting to question why i was doing this haha

no seasonic or antec beaker? :(

for PSUs.

i'm really sad panda now.

now lets get straight to the point of benefits of building over buying.

buying:

shit computers loaded with bloatware and garbage components with a cheap plastic case stuffed with stickers and poor everything.

usually has intel motherboards, or something else completely offbrand for motherboards, seagate hard drives or worse (usually 8mb cache), lower tiered video cards and lower level processor.

something like alienware or something that is custom built by a manufacturer:

paying way too damn much for parts you could throw together. only pro is, for all those parts that were thrown in there at a manufacturer pace, you get a warranty.

then theres custom:

with the help of these people on the site, you wont get some shitty part thats confusing or has too many features built into it that either hurt performance, or do nothing for real world.

generally maxim, or beaker will have reviews and performance test scores to back up the products they recommend.

and all parts that are recommended, will either, cool better, have a better price, or out perform what the other companies try and sell you.

building is just better in every aspect. the only thing that you might possibly have to RMA is a hard drive. other than that, if the computer works past a month of usage, it will last years.

Possibly, but 4 in a row of anything blowing up when you plug it in, I wouldnt want to use it anymore ever. I've had friends go with them with the same results, but that was about 5 years ago, also the earthwatts series. Havent had any issues with the Coolermaster stuff.
