Afficionado Posted January 25, 2013 Report Posted January 25, 2013 I plan on running 2x 18" subwoofers in my Toyota Corolla. The plan is around 1.5k-2.5k RMS subs, which subs are yet to be decided. my question is which makes more sense, or if it matters at all whether i run one or two amps. for example, 2x 1500 watt amps, or 1x 3000 watt Amp. Any information and help is appreciated. knockin'hoe97 Posted January 25, 2013 Report Posted January 25, 2013 I personally like to see one big sexy amp but that's just me
8ight Posted January 25, 2013 Report Posted January 25, 2013 One big amp is a little more efficient in most applications. The only reason I would run two amplifiers is if one didn't satisfy my power needs or I had a final impedance better suited to two amplifiers (i.e. two dual 2 subs). I'm gonna hate

Power efficiency would be my main issue? A advantage of two amps that you have one for bass if one get broken. "in the abundance of water, the fool is thirsty" Bob Marley
Neckbeard Posted January 25, 2013 Report Posted January 25, 2013 If you already have a t1500, i would get another one, sounds a whole lot cheaper Build log, Super slow!!: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/168096-slow-neckbeards-1970-opel-gt/
Team Maxxsonics John Posted January 25, 2013 Report Posted January 25, 2013 It's a close call but a 3000 watt amp is expensive to fix if it breaks out of warranty. As long as the amps are strappable or you use a good quality strapping module, I like 2 smaller amps. And, as mentioned, if you have an amp problem, you still have a second to allow you some bass during repair of the second.
