littlebuck1919
i drive a 2000 cavalier with the above mentioned motor in it, i want to get an S-10 (i believe the 4.3's are the same from like 98 to '04?). Well, i had alternators from both vehicles in my hands and looked at them and it looks like if i bored out one of the mounting holes and tipped it a bit to the side it'd fit in an S-10. i was wondering if there's any real downsides to that, or if maybe my eyes decieved me and it won't fit? because i am looking to change vehicles without going through the hassel of waiting for another alternator. (it's a DC alt so i guess im kinda lucky to have gotten it at all). MECHMAN
A 2.2L alternator will fit a 4.3L, but not vica-versa. We include a bracket with our 2.2L kits that allows a large case GM unit to bolt in and clear the engine without grinding. 1-888-MECHMAN www.Mechman.com [email protected]
littlebuck1919
i know lol but i was wondering specifically about the 4.3....the only real differences that i saw between the two (stock at least) was that one of the mounts was not even a quarter of an ince (by eye) away from eachother and that there was smooth holes for both on the one for the 4.3 but not for the one for my cavalier, i was thinking of boring out the hole a bit so they're both nice and smooth in the cavalier's alt....im tired of the little 2.2 lol id like something a little bigger Feedback Thread: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/152368-littlebuck1919s-feedback/#entry2177586 i think you'd stick your dick in a blender if it told you it was 40 wtih two kids your age. lol 6/18/82 - 4/17/12 R.I.P. to my sister Shana

Tarball
If it doesnt bolt up you have a couple of options still. Send back to DC for a recasing or build an adaptor. Or sell the DC for the 2.2 and get a new alt that is made for the 4.3 - lots more options there.
