Guest Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 LOL its not easy. at all. you crack one side trying to secure it to the other pieces, and you're out like $100. edit: you cant just use like .75" thick acrylic/plexi. i doubt it will hold. especially when the woofers are moving. if the enclosure flexes, you're losing major output.
bassfreake Posted February 12, 2013 Author Report Posted February 12, 2013 didn't trippi's old plexiglass (acrylic?) box cost like a few grand just for materials? damn... how big was it though? mine is only 3.7 or somethin like that cuft with 2 subs that will be running maybe 4kw Thanks I was pretty excited about the alt myself. kind of like a school girl, in a dress, on a swing. lol It's warming up enough that the donut-punching cyclist douchenozzles are getting their two wheeled fagmobiles out. CW06Silvy Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 check out chicken's caddy EXT on youtube steve did a acrylic/plexi enclosure.. and it was super cool..also search XXX truck (re audio truck) on youtube, HUGE acrylic window...I have heard bracing is an issue but acrylic or lexan is super strong.. Carbon Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 Lexan 1/2in sheet x 6 sheets and your good. 3" all around.
Carbon Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 I showed him this picture and he was like yea that's totally possible and easy Those will not be happy soundwaves lol Your woofer is a bit obstructed.
C-Fizzy Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 You'll need AT LEAST 1.5" acrylic. You could do acrylic dowels for bracing too. But for 4 cubes you're probably looking at a grand just in plexiglas or acrylic. under construction I hate People with crappy primered cars rolling on hubcaps that are louder then me. u hate c-fizzy?

mothra Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 Dave Rivera made a few boxes like this, for you old school guys you know who this is. building a window on an enclosure is relatively easy, i've seen a lot of this. i've seen a full enclosure a while back that housed 2 15s ported in the back of a Mazda MPV. building the enclosure is about the same as with wood just more clamps and shaving the edges to be smooth. Weld On 3 instead of wood glue. if nothing changes, nothing changes You don't know what you don't know, till you don't know
stroupe79 Posted February 12, 2013 Report Posted February 12, 2013 1.5 inch plexi 48x96 is like $2200 a sheet... .75 inch plexi 48/96 is like $940 a sheet... my box I currently run is 5cubes...I would have used a sheet and a half of the .75 plexi at 48x96 or a 48x96 piece and another 48x48 for a total of $1600 and that is with no bracing or anything...just the plexi http://www.eplastics.com/Shopping-Cart?whence=&custcol3= http://www.stevemead...cherokee-build/ 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Alpine CDE-hd148bt Alpine PKG-RSE2 PRV Audio (4) 6MB200 front/rear doors PRV Audio (4) TW350Ti dash/rear doors Kicker KX350.4 Obsidian Audio (1) 18 D4 v2 revamp (2) Stereo Integrity HT 18d2DC Audio 1.2k5.25ft^3 tuned @34hz revamp Infinite Baffle Cpillar AudioTechnix 60mil deadenerKnuKonceptz & SkyHigh wire (complete setup)
