str86diesel
Nice strap bro...but here's a piece of advice. 40's do have punchy recoil..so if you were going for something to teach your wife with..you should have started smaller. However..the purchase is done. Get her to the range and/or get her into some safety classes so that a certified instructor can work with her. This might sound stupid..and us men don't get it. Woman look at firearms and taking intruders life far different then us men. It really takes a strong will for a woman to be able to pull the trigger when needed. So if your thought is for her to be competent to protect herself the only way she will learn to do so is practice, practice, practice and lots of training. My wife and I have been shooting for many years, she even has a concealed handgun permit (and she has her own gun safe..no joke) and carries everywhere she goes..and she is a damn good shot....and I guarantee you, she still would have a very difficult time protecting herself. Woman don't tend to have the macho attitude that men have and they panic. EDIT...Keep in mind too..when taking her to the range, My honest opinion from my experience is..spend a little bit of money and have a professional teach your wife how to use the firearm and how to aim down the sites. Small items like this, will make a huge difference, especially if the training is coming from a professional. I know i get frustrated with my wife quite a bit..for me to really sit down and train her and tell her how i do things...don't work for her. Just because something works for me, doesn't mean that she understands the basics to know how to put the whole concept together. Where an instructer will start from step 1 going through the basics. 2k6 Dodge Ram 2500...CUMMINS POWERED - SOLD
str86diesel
Im going to buy me 2 nines and people will tell you that nines dont have any stopping power ........well for where im aiming they dont have to = ) x2...I actually carry a G19. I get a lot of grief at my range for the same thing..people think bigger is better and that a 45 has more stopping power. My rebuttle..."That's fine that bigger is better...why don't you stand over there and we can see if I put one center mass in your chest if you continue to stand" BTW, my defense rounds are Corbon +p 115's (9 MM LUGER+P 115 GR. JHP 1350 FPS 466 FTLBS)...They WILL drop and intruder to his knees. 2k6 Dodge Ram 2500...CUMMINS POWERED - SOLD

Shot placement is much more important than caliber size. Ive got many different calibers of handguns but my main "self defense" handguns are 9mm. Nice Sig btw! tejcurrent
*edit: sorry for posting in the wrong section, I didn't even realize there was a guns/ammo section! This forum has everything! Thanks for the solid advice guys. I tried to take my wife earlier in the week just to let her get a feel for it, but from 10 feet away from me shooting even with earplugs in she complained it hurt her ears We're going to put her in plugs and muffs next time and see how she does. Anyway, yesterday I went to the farm where we shoot and dumped out over 250 rounds. Got some good solid practice for myself, and a feel for the gun. It really doesn't have much recoil, I'm sure with just a few shots she'd have no problems with it. I got home and cleaned it real good and sat it on the coffee table to put in it's case. I picked it back up and heard a noise- the magazine release button fell clean out of it! Somewhere between me shooting it and cleaning it the pin and spring that hold the button in place fell out, so now I have to get it fixed. All sales are final, but it's covered under warranty so I have to send it back for repair. 3 week turn around time tejcurrent XS Power T3
