Dopeylee Posted February 16, 2013 Report Posted February 16, 2013 I have a 2001 Chevy Silverado ext cab. I want to put a system together. I currently have factory h/u, polk 4x6 db461p in back, and some 6.5 kenwoods up front. I want to go for sq. I am passed want to shake the windows of the car next to me. I want to create a something that I can enjoy, especially when the misses starts harping on her latest gripe. I was doing some looking, and I was considering doing the following. Charging system upgrade from CA auto Pioneer DEH-80PRS or Kenwood KDC-x996 or x997 Polk audio db6501 up front Polk audio db5251 for rear 2 Polk audio MM1040D in Subthump ultra deep maxx 1 or 2 PA D5000.5 amps (not sure if I would need 1 or 2 to drive all speakers and subs) Sound deadner showdown products Could use any input or suggestions. I am on a budget. Married you know. I can't afford JL, Focal, or the upper end products right now. I do want to do right for now, and maybe look at upgading to better components later.
HunterJohnson Posted February 16, 2013 Report Posted February 16, 2013 Any particular reason you're choosing all polk audio? Scion tC SQ BuildiPad mini, lots of fabrication, daily drivenFord Explorer C Pillar Wall Build Just a cheap car to destroy with bass
Dopeylee Posted February 16, 2013 Author Report Posted February 16, 2013 I have polk hts. Thought they sounded good, but I am open to suggestions.
Guest Posted February 16, 2013 Report Posted February 16, 2013 if you want to sound nice, I wouldn't pick Polk. my infinity speakers sounded better than the Polk ones I had. that should tell you something right there.
skittlesRgood Posted February 16, 2013 Report Posted February 16, 2013 if you're going with a HU that has an active crossover then I would piece together drivers. look at parts-express.com you'll find a cheap price and better quality. If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude. If I was an asshole, you asked a stupid question or you had a fucktard attitude... or I was in a bad mood. bcbrassard Posted February 17, 2013 Report Posted February 17, 2013 Nice choice in HU, are you planning on going active or passive with your system. That deck is great for active from what i hear, i have one but yet to install it but will have it in in 2 weeks. As for SQ speakers there are alot out there but it depends on your budget. I would go to the SQ forum for there advice.
Dopeylee Posted February 17, 2013 Author Report Posted February 17, 2013 I don't know enough about sound system anymore to know about active or passive or who makes good equipment anymore. That is why i came here. Hoping to get some suggestions before I get into ordering the components.
rocking.that.eclipse Posted February 17, 2013 Report Posted February 17, 2013 Active means that you power the tweeter sperately than the woofer. Passive is using a crossover
Dopeylee Posted February 17, 2013 Author Report Posted February 17, 2013 That was why I wasn't sure about one or two amps. I was thinking one amp for front speakers, tweeters, and one sub, and the other amp for back speakers and second sub
