1987 Nissan Streetmax Rebuild

Recommended Posts

Got some work done today.

Here's what I started with:

Those Maxximus subs had a huge mounting diameter compared to the DD 18" basket:

So we had to fix that first. Cut out some inserts, since the triple baffle was deep enough to add one layer and still have the sub inset.

Then cut the sub mounting diameter out, and glued and resin'd them into place

Filled in with a little duraglass

And then started sanding. The entire inside of the enclosure looked like this:

everyone, Jay included, said that I could gain a lot by smoothing the inside of the box out perfectly, so I'm working on that now. Here's a preview of what I've got done so far:

Still a lot more to go, but at least I got started on it today.

Thanks man,

My goal is to hit a 160 first time out in StreetMax, truck has done a 158.x to date with a single Stinger 2150 battery. I'll have a multicell on the way on Monday, which should help the cause. Should be a nice gain just from power. With everyone rebuilding because of the new street rules, I've had 4 people call me asking if I wanted their multicells.
