95legwagon Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 if that jeeps got the inline 6 cyl engine.... i wouldnt do it unless they have all paperwork for oil changes...... those engines have a problem with sludge build up and the run dry and blow up lol ( not like explosion blow up) i see it all the time in the junkyard i work at.... now we rebuild all of them before selling. that many miles you should be at like $1000..... also check under it for rust..... on the frame, brake lines, on the bottom of the inside of all the doors for seam rot ( rust), bottom of fenders....they rust out alot....then again you are from texas and dont see alot of snow or salt....... might just be a good grab....except for the oil thing. pull the dipstick on the engine and tranny.... i think there real i was looking through that guys stuff he sells and it looks like he finds stuff at auctions and just sells it Yea, it looks like someone got the mids about a month ago....shit. revoracing247 Posted March 1, 2013 Report Posted March 1, 2013 Well I'm not that great at haggling when it comes to cars. this may help ya alot. but something i've just noticed from the stuff i've bought on CL (cars, bikes, motorcycles, ect) is that if you spend the time to really look at what your buying and to really know what your looking at considering buying, then when you make an offer they usually are willing to come down quite a bit. plus not rushing though it and looking everything over really carefully shows them your really interested and plus it usually points out a lot of sore spots not listed in the add. my truck right now i spent like an hour looking everything over and climbing under it and making sure there wasn't any surprises i'd find a month or two after i bought it and by the end i knew more about his truck then he did and he could tell lol he actually asked me for a price on it and so i said i'd pay $1500 for it. (the add said $2K firm) looking back i would have asked a little less cause there still was a couple things i didn't see or forgot to test and turns out they didn't work, but still. idk how mechanically inclined you are but just make sure you don't rush and make sure there's nothing that seems out of place. and it's worth it to get a little dirty and climb under it or spend 10 minutes looking at the motor bay. it just started out as me getting tired of having unexpected surprises a couple months after i would buy things and turns out it works well for me at least to soften them up and allowing me to nigotiate(sp?) a good fair deal on it. and this is all just my opinion and from my experience. ~ If it was easy, everybody would be doing it ~

We only brought 1700, Needless to say we drove a new car home that day. If you have the cash in hand you can negotiate pretty much anything in my personal experience. Money talks.
