Tweeter mounting location

Would the 2nd location idea block any area you need to see?

Not large enough to make a difference

i dont think it would block vision. i think the two main things he would be concerned with is messing with his duct work in the dash or making it look nice. im not hating on the dash location. but i wouldnt worry as much with the A pillers. i know those tweeters are not very small but then again some guys put 4" mids and a 1" tweeter up there.

Just played around a bunch more with different mounting locations, directions, and songs. And I actually think that making some pods on the bottom of where the A pillar and dash meet, facing the tweeters towards the center of the car yields the best sound.

Buttt... There is one possibly major issue with that. The pods would cover the VIN. My car also has the VIN on the inside of my door, but does anyone know if it needs to be visible from the outside?

I would NOT obstruct VIN, I could see MANY a police officer getting pissy about that. As far as legally, not sure. It doesn't seem like a good road to go down through. If I were going to run super tweeters I'd do the A-pillar thing too, not directly at the face though. I'd choose to maybe aim them at the chest it over the head so it's not like a direct shot to the ear.

Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.

I can't say anything about aiming it but yes blocking the vin isn't a good idea. Sy possibility you can move it an inch closer to you ?

Yeah that's doable. I feel like it will look a little bit corny from the outside - not having the enclosure go all the way do the end of the dash. But it's better than a ticket lol

Got one more place to try tomorrow. If that doesn't do it for me, than I know where I'll be putting them!

I would go with whatever sounds the best and fabricate to that end. It's interesting you tried the center of the dash. I did the same thing with a pair of large format tweeters on axis a couple years ago and I loved it. I could hear Alison Krauss on the hood of my car. lol The great thing about supertweeters is the efficiency. Since they are so efficient the sound arrives before any reflections do they make the listening experience so much more realistic. The reason you see most people shy away from on axis with supertweets isn't from kippel data, polar response graphs, on/off axis freq. resonse, or any of that jive; but due to the fact they have heard overpowered tweets without any eq or tuning...and I don't blame them. I have sat in a couple cars that made me feel like my ears were bleeding after it ripped my face off. It can work you just have to go the extra mile to make it work. The efficiency is both a blessing and a curse. :) Running them with a steep x-over sloe of 18db or more over 4k with some moderate eq-ing in the 2-6k area can yield some really great results.
