Regular cab sub placement

Recommended Posts

I am gearing up to start my new build in my 06 Dodge 1500, it's a regular cab so I have opted to run a single sealed subwoofer off the back two channels of my Zapco for bass (500w@4 ohms). I am thinking a single 10 or 12 will add enough bass to pick up where my front stage leaves off and round the sound off nicely. I have enough room for two small subs under each front seat or a single sub behind the seats. For the best sound quality, would I be better off with 1 12" or 10" sub behind my seats or 2 8" subs underneath the seats (one under driver one under passenger firing down)? Also I have not selected a sealed configuration because I believe it will yield better sound quality, it's a matter of space constraints.

I'm gonna hate

I'd personally go with 2 ported 10s or 4 ported 8s on the back wall behind the seat and be done with it ...

ported and tuned to or around 24 to 28 htz ...

Just my suggestion ...

I don't want to give up all the storage behind my seats for a multiple sub arrangement. I use this truck for work so I keep tools, a real jack, tie-downs, straps, and my hitch back there. If I go ported I will definitely be rolling with one 12" sub, would aeros be the easy solution? I'd hate to build a port so small.

Coming from cableguy if you don't take his advise you would be silly.

OK here is the rear tray area. Included are some measurements, just give me some box ideas that leave me ~30" or so for my stuff and I'll be happy.

I have 500w RMS and a limited amount of space/budget. I really don't think multiples, especially expensive Sundown ones, are a solution for me at this point. I am thinking one E-12 would fit nicely in a slanted box with aero ports. I guess I should stop asking and just do stuff.
