Johnny248
Looking at the affordable options for 6" PA drivers to use in your mobile system. Interested in reviews of them by owners, and better yet if someone has tried more than one. Currently I have a set of Eminence Alpha 6C's that I am using for my front mids in one of my systems. I was getting tired of warranty replacement of the 6" drivers that came with my original mobile component system. They were not holding up with the 150w RMS I was sending to them. (yes I had my gains set with the DD-1). So I replaced those drivers with the Eminence because of the: Made in USA, large, high power handling voice coil of the PA drivers vs other mobile options. I see a lot of people running the Crescendo mids and seem to like them. $32 each is a really good price. The Skar are pretty expensive and I'm guessing because it is uses a neo magnet, and has all sorts of fancy looking crap on it. The SoundQubed are the least expensive and makes me wonder about quality. There are too many cheap import speakers out there. I'm thinking a lot of these are designed overseas also, and the build quality is usually less than stellar. *not saying all imported speakers are this way. Just a lot. SnowDrifter
The crescendos are cheap and built well, but they have a pretty significant design flaw that makes it do you can't mount them in anything thicker than a 1/2" baffle. At least not without converting them to direct leads. They take the 150 watts I throw at them too (crossfire BMF600.4, dd1 -5db) Can't comment for the others though ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
Johnny248
I was looking at the prvs on parts express, but I left them out because I think they only come in 8 ohm. As far the crescendo, I think I see what you mean because of the push terminals. Are you using any eq on those? -= J-dUb =- ....no 12 step program can cure my car audio addiction... Kevin M
http://www.usspeaker.com/6&8.htm and http://www.parts-express.com/cat/woofers-subwoofers-midrange-speakers/31?kg=497|3919,3920 I have heard the nendo's and the sundown and liked them but haven't done any critical listening, just decaf It is fine to run speakers that are 8 ohms. The wattage will be halved is all. Some of them are more efficient as far as their sensitivity so it evens out. 2005 Ford Focus zx4 AMT's and Planars 18" Infinite baffle
lifted_silverado
I loved my eminences. I would also say seleniums arent a bad choice either. Earthquakes sound pretty decent to Everythings in the attic or garage since the truck was sold last year. New build should be coming soon in a dodge cummins

As far the crescendo, I think I see what you mean because of the push terminals. Are you using any eq on those? Nope. Just a passive crossover and a piezo tweeter. Everything else is flat The mic on the camera is pretty good. So what you hear is roughly how they sound ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
stroupe79
8ohm just gives you reason to run twice as many! http://www.stevemead...cherokee-build/ 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Alpine CDE-hd148bt Alpine PKG-RSE2 PRV Audio (4) 6MB200 front/rear doors PRV Audio (4) TW350Ti dash/rear doors Kicker KX350.4 Obsidian Audio (1) 18 D4 v2 revamp (2) Stereo Integrity HT 18d2DC Audio 1.2k5.25ft^3 tuned @34hz revamp Infinite Baffle Cpillar AudioTechnix 60mil deadenerKnuKonceptz & SkyHigh wire (complete setup)
Johnny248
I know you can run 8ohm speakers, but people. Are usually looking to maxamize the power from their 12volt amps so it may not be the best option. My eminence sounds very good after some eq. Freq response could start a little lower, but they do transfer well with the sub drivers. I'm getting ready for another system and was going to use the eminence with it, but want to check out some of the other options -= J-dUb =- ....no 12 step program can cure my car audio addiction...
