SilveradoGoesBang
Hey guys on Monday I got a oil change at dealership, get them for free first 2 years I own my 2011 silverado and after I got the oil change done. Tuesday- truck started to run 15-20 degrees hotter. Wednesday- truck took longer than normal to turn over. Thursday- loss of horsepower and went threw a tank of gas in 4 days (100ish miles) Saturday(today)- tried to start truck sounded like shit so dad told me to pop the hood looked down and oil cap was sitting on the engine off.... Called them they told me to being it in and they looked at it and said everything looked okay and redid my oil and I've driving it like 20 miles sense and my rpms seem to be better and it starts good but should I be lookin out for signs of this cause engine trouble or damage or should I be okay? Any thoughts? HatersGonnaHate
Putting the cap back on and having the dealer check it out was the best thing to do. It's not gonna cause any long term effects though. The engine works as a vacuum pump, all sealed up, it will run perfect. With the cap left off, it will run as though there was a vacuum leak, therefore it would run rough. lifted_silverado
What haters said. Same as if youd left your gas cap off, no vacuum and run rough. No long term problems Everythings in the attic or garage since the truck was sold last year. Unless it threw oil all over your engine compartment you should be fine. Rest in peace, walled 87 accord build log 03' Corolla build with AA Mayhem inside. ChevyBoy95
do your own oil. There are a few things I will not let any mechanic do, oil is one of them. Plus it saves money knowing how to do your own brakes, oil, and just most maintenance stuff. and please dont get those 30 dollar oil changes.... they are making money on those, so think about the grade of oil being used.... not to mention the quality of labor.
