bkolfo4
If the amp is 1 ohm stable, then I am confused on your point for this topic and "overpowering". If you can control 500 watts at 2 ohms on one coil, then you should be able to control 1000 watts at 1 ohm. . . Current system: 1997 Blazer - (4) Customer Fi NEO subs with (8) American Bass Elite 2800.1s Previous systems: 2000 Suburban - (4) BTL 15's and (4) IA 40.1's = 157.7 dB at 37 Hz. 1992 Astro Van - (6) BTL 15's and (6) IA 40.1's = 159.7 dB at 43 Hz. Joe X
If I have a 1000 watt DVC 2 Ohm per coil sub, and I want to run it at 2 Ohms, so I just connect one coil, should I half the rms since I'm running 1 coil? I mean, is a 1000 watt rms DVC sub really 500 watts rms a coil? I will say that posting what sub and what amp are those can only help. Some amps don't put out rated some subs can do over rated. -X-RaTeD-
Yeah, those numbers were just theoreticals for a general reply, but the actual equipment in question is an Obsidian 18 v2 D2, amp is EM*Phaser EA 1800D. I don't know about the Obsidian, rms wattage is 600, but they don't say what the peak is, so I figure around 800-1000 would be a clean safe max. Ex, my type-r 12 is 500rms/1500peak.
