Battery infomation

Recommended Posts

It's the rated capacity.

110Amp-Hours

The battery can provide:

1amp for 110 hours

10 amps for 11 hours

50 amps for 2.2 hours

110 amps for 1 hour (I would be skeptical if it could really pull this one off but it's a rating)

Multiply your current by your duration time for a maximum combination of 110.

Sure its important.

You'd want one battery with "x" amount of capacity rather than two (or more) battery's that combine to the same capacity.

Saves physical space and gives you less interconnections.

Also of importance is how fast the battery can release its charge. The faster the better, especially with very transient music that requires large bursts of current.

How do we determine how fast a batt release its charge. Is that also what ah tells or is there something we else that needs to be considered

Yo dog i heard you like boxes. so i put a box inside a box so you can bass while you FAIL

Connect a considerable load to the battery with a switch.

Flip the switch and monitor the output current with an o-scope.

Measure the rise time of the current waveform.

:D

Realistically the average Joe won't have access to test equipment fast enough to measure something like that.

So you'd have to get details from the battery manufacturer themselves, if they even provide it...

Generally an AGM battery is able to release its charge much faster than the typical lead-acid battery.

Amp-hours does not provide that info, it only tells you how much charge the battery holds, not how fast it can release it.

All in all, an AGM battery is very hard to beat. They provide a lot of instant current and they're sealed so they won't leak or vent gas which is extremely important when lot of us car audio enthusiasts put multiple batteries in our vehicles and many of them are inside the cabin (technically).

I was wondering if we could put amg batt inside. I was concerned about my kids safety lf I put them under their seat. Thanks for info

One more question about ah. Are these measurements with no charging system just the batt as is.

I would think AH would be tested just battery on a load until voltage drops to a unacceptable level.
