mrlovethatbass21
Did a quick calc to see how much port 3 10' sonotubes would do, which is 12.8 per, tried keeping it close to the same size as your current box, idk if you wanted bigger. 18x40x60, torres screwed up on me lol my box external is 40w. 20h. 60l internal is 37w. 17h. 57l woofer displacement is .64 bracing is like .5 , i only have 4 threaded rods
mrlovethatbass21
And in that example if the subs were moved and a slot port was done in the correct location and correct port area it would be louder. That's a fact. so what would you recommend, and i just found out that my port is taking up 4.4 cubes, that is crazy. that means i can gain quite a bit internal airspace by doing something different. my box with the port was 17.5 cubes, so there is room for improvement. Im open to ideas my box external is 40w. 20h. 60l internal is 37w. 17h. 57l woofer displacement is .64 bracing is like .5 , i only have 4 threaded rods
Omega5002
Here's 2 pics, I think you were supposed to mean .05 for displacement, not .5, which is a lot for just thread rods 2003 Kia Sorento Team Subsonic LowsTeam Bassin' on a Budget2016 Rebuild Under Construction Best score: 150.2 at 40hz (3k, 2 Custom HDC3 15's) Usaci style(door open, in the kick)
HunterJohnson
From my experience I would recommend a slot port. I would also recommend that you give your subs more power if your box is too small. If ur vehicles resonating frequency is 43 I would tune to atleast 38 for ur likening. Even tho my current vehicle is 52hz I still tune to 27hz bc I like a flat response Scion tC SQ BuildiPad mini, lots of fabrication, daily drivenFord Explorer C Pillar Wall Build Just a cheap car to destroy with bass
Omega5002
Though downside to sonotubes, they aren't as strong as aero's, so you would need bracing for them inside the box or fiber glass them like this to add strength 2003 Kia Sorento Team Subsonic LowsTeam Bassin' on a Budget2016 Rebuild Under Construction Best score: 150.2 at 40hz (3k, 2 Custom HDC3 15's) Usaci style(door open, in the kick)
mrlovethatbass21
So its actually possible i can get louder with going with three 10 aero ports, gaining air space back because my removable port took up 4.5 cubes and Im raising my tuning from 33 to 38hz. Im almost gaining two cubes of internal airspace.
mrlovethatbass21
so here what's Im going to do, four 8 inch aero ports tuned to 37hz. See the comparison below, i think it should gain a db or 2 old box. 17.5 cubes, 270 " of port tuned to 32hz new box 19.1 cubes with four 8" aero ports tuned to 37hz
skittlesRgood
Please allow me to cut out the bullshit here. everyone has a method that worked for them and a method that failed. the next guy experienced the exact opposite in his situation. there is only one way to go about this: build test build test build test build test build test build test build test and repeat. if you're not willing to do that, then stick to the box you have now because there is not one answer that will get you the exact result you are looking for. If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude. If I was an asshole, you asked a stupid question or you had a fucktard attitude... or I was in a bad mood.
