Also, inform me if i will need additional batteries, or w/e, and what kind are good for this. I already plan on upgrading my alternator (getting a 240 amp alt from dom soon), so please leave me advice on everything else i need to do. Guest Caps Posted February 12, 2008 Report Posted February 12, 2008 i have never done it before, but im under the impression that the alt needs to be regulated for a certain voltage (in your case 16v). since dom is going to be making you one, let him know that you want to run 16v and he'll tell you what you need. A alternator with voltage regulaed at 16v and come kinetik 16v batterys should do the trick. You would have to isolate this charging system from the rest of the car also. andym85 Posted February 12, 2008 Report Posted February 12, 2008 i wouldnt even do it if its for a daily driver....you need a 16v alt, amp, and batteries....and on top of that, like stated above, you have to isolated that from the rest of the cars electrical b/c it would fry at 16v...just a big pain in the ass for the average joe who isnt competing! stratusrt01 Posted February 12, 2008 Report Posted February 12, 2008 easiest way I've seen it done for daily: Buy a 16V alternator setup and a kinetik 16v battery with the 12v post for under the hood (if it'll fit). Then run the 12V post to the car, the 16V posts to the back to another 16V battery, and let it rip. But, alternators running 16V daily usually have a shorter life span. Quote
