COLTON94 Posted April 9, 2013 Report Posted April 9, 2013 Ok so im looking for pros and cons on 6th order and 4th order boxes. Will most likely be for a pair of dc m2 8s on 550rms may upgrade power later on. But its for a single cab s10. Just trying to get the best out of my current set up before i commit to buying all new gear.
Joe X Posted April 9, 2013 Report Posted April 9, 2013 Bandpass boxes need their space and you have a single cab, I wouldn't do a blowthrough for 2 8"s so it remains to be seen if you have the space, Bandpass are also difficult to align, so often you see people doing removable ports on them to try to avoid a complete rebuild.
COLTON94 Posted April 9, 2013 Author Report Posted April 9, 2013 Without the blowthrough i dont have room for anything then a gimp .5 sealed box. Im just toying with ideas. A blow through has been the plan for this truck all along but id rather spend for things on my blowthrough and experiment with current gear vs spending for new stuff. I can go measure the room i have to work with in the bed but it is a huge amount of space for 8s but my only options are 12's as i dont have the height for 15s
zydrix Posted April 9, 2013 Report Posted April 9, 2013 It seems if u can get the box made correctly, they hit hard!! I have sat in many many 4ths an loved them, an a few 6th orders an I loved the output from those as well compared to the traditional ported. My build 98 s10 2.2 3 american bass HD 15s with psi soft parts. (on there way here) atomic at-3000.1 (soon) 146.2 outlaw @39hz., bad alt an bad batt when termed (old 2 12" build) alpine 6.5s in doors infinty 4x6s in dash. clarion cz201 HU. mechman 240a H/O alt stuff i still need. SHCA 2/0 wire SHCA 1/0 to 2/0 adapters Atomic AT-3000.1 Lots of sound deadner new mids an highs, still debating on what to do. A few Deka g31 batts.
COLTON94 Posted April 9, 2013 Author Report Posted April 9, 2013 Box will be designed by ground pounder customs but blowthrough is alot of room for a pair of 8s. Of course i can always build this cute little box that gets loud and catch people off guard hmmmm
revoracing247 Posted April 9, 2013 Report Posted April 9, 2013 does the specs of the woofer effect how it plays a ton? like if i built a 6th order that's supposed to be awesome for 8's that are in the same performance realm as my 8 would it generally be pretty good? ~ If it was easy, everybody would be doing it ~
COLTON94 Posted April 9, 2013 Author Report Posted April 9, 2013 Specs of the sub will always effect performance. Every woofer is differnt. Like the aq 2.5 8s are iirc 500 rms which is close to my dc's but they love totally differnt boxes

COLTON94 Posted April 9, 2013 Author Report Posted April 9, 2013 Yea a box built just for ur sub will always sound better. If ur nervous i can pm u the email for guy planning mine. Hes affordable and great guy to just ask questions to before u make up ur mind
Smoove Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 Does your s10 have buckets or a bench? Automatic tranny or manual?
