Stephen Dunnington Posted April 19, 2013 Report Posted April 19, 2013 So I currently have a 12v going from my HU to my amp/crossover and I'm planning on adding lights/speaker amp, and supposedly I need a relay. I don't know what exact relay to get, how to wire it, and where to put it. I've searched Youtube but most of them are not audio related. I have a general idea, but if someone could fill me in it would awesome!
SnowDrifter Posted April 19, 2013 Report Posted April 19, 2013 CE auto makes a nice relay kit. They are also diode protected too. I'll let someone more knowledgeable chime in but basically it stops a voltage spike when you turn it off and you won't brake things http://www.ceautoelectricsupply.com/turnonrelaykits.html ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
Stephen Dunnington Posted April 19, 2013 Author Report Posted April 19, 2013 oooOoh, I don't get the 5 prong part(http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_5635_Bosch-BRLY1.html#tabs) I've seen one in my car, but I don't know if I can just swap it out?
SnowDrifter Posted April 19, 2013 Report Posted April 19, 2013 The center prong is on when the relay is off. Basically the opposite of what you want to do. But you don't need to use it, so it doesn't matter if you get it.Why not just get the CE one? It's made by one of the vendors and a very valued member here. He's a smart dude and he packages it all up nice so all you need to do is plug in the wires where he tells you and you are good to go. ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444

I didn't notice the Deluxe one!!! and the fact that it's only $30 <3 How do I go about powering this? Can I just splice the +/-/12v into my current amp?
