sylvania silverstar zxe worth it

i have stock head lights in my grand am and they really suck. was checking out the zxe lighs. i dont know much about them or if they are bright. let me know

No idea, but aftermarket are normally brighter. Happy 1500 posts dude.

Not really. Just think about it, they are in essence taking a clear bulb, and putting a blue coating on it. They are not producing more power. All they are doing is filtering the light, thus reducing output but giving it the effect of being 'brighter' because it appears to be more white. Unfortunately that's what they do with all the silverstar line. Look on candlepower forums, they bash silverstars like no other lol, just basically great marketing.

What bulb does your grand am take? You may be able to do the HIR mods, possibly a quad beam mod like I did on my old '98 Malibu. Also, are your housing getting hazy?

I will be replacing mine at some point and will be going with the Phillips X-treme power I think. Plain old clear glass, yes they will be white-yellow, but they won't be filtering out some of the light either.

They DO! Did that on my old car also.

It's also amazing what toothpaste and an old rag will do too Tried it on my roommates old car. Just use a paste style, not a jelly kind.

Most people just have to use it on the outside, but mine had yellowing on the inside as well. Put them in the oven, pulled em apart, cleaned the hell out of them, sealed them back up with some silicone gasket maker and voila, good as new!!

I used to run hid's cause the housings made the headlights so dim, but now I don't have to! And I just run generic random bulbs that I throw in my tool bag when I go to the pick and pull. Yeah I know I'm cheap, haha

ya, i like my 6000k hids pretty good but ive had some halogens that were a little better but the hids had more output, with halogens i couldn't see at night when it rained but with hids now i can see good

ddm tuning has some on sale right now, if your going for output i wouldn't go past 8000k, i can tell a little bit difference between 8k and 6k, ied do 55w 5k

if you got 4 bulbs instead of 2, ied run halogens in high beams and hids in low beams, i like apc headlights from advanced, sylvania is to expencive, $50-$60 for hids vs $50 ultra's, i unno

this also depends on light housings to how much output you will get, mine do fine but projectors are sweet, u might could find a set of projectors on ebay wit hids in em if your really interested in it, but cleaning your housings will help alot

9005 is what it takes. They do need sole buffing but its not to bad..I don't wanna spend the money on HID

Was looking on eBay but have no idea what to look for. Maybe someone can help! I do like the blueish look to it but if the silverstar sucks or 60$ then I refuse to buy haha
