RidingTooLow
Just get a plate amplifier and be done with it. A 500 watt plate amp will piss off anyone you live within a matter of minutes. I promise.

-X-RaTeD-
What you need is something like this, http://www.ebay.com/itm/Crown-XLS-1500-DriveCore-Stereo-Power-Amp-XLS1500-Amplifier-PROAUDIOSTAR-/400604113502?pt=US_Pro_Audio_Amplifiers&hash=item5d45ddaa5e 1550@4ohms You don't want to rig something up, and then have your computer and sensitive electrical equipment power cycling every time the bass drops and drops the voltage across the circuit in your room. When I hear music, I fear no danger. I am invulnerable. I see no foe. biscuitownz
I'm running a RF 250-1 in my room with a ps3 power supply which puts out around 20a @ 12v. It works fine but I don't know of any power supply that would be able to put out enough power for a 1kw+ amp.
BASShead12
My friend used to have subs with car amp run off a power supply unit that looked like a receiver along with a home stereo receiver the subs were only about 500w rms and it got loud so you don't really need 2000 watts for in home. I tried to do the same in my house but he forgot where he purchased the psu so I was SOL because I couldn't find anything online that even came close to resembling the PSU he had. Just get a home theater system it would be a lot less headache especially if you are not that electrically informed about voltage ac/dc and amps. A psu for 2000w would not be very efficient either btw. Krakin
This was posted 7 months ago and the OP has already been told what he can do.. Krakin's Home Dipole Project http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/186153-krakins-dipole-project-new-reciever-in-rockford-science/#entry2772370 Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist? I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself but what has drawn your attention in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears, thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.
