john253a Posted May 4, 2013 Report Posted May 4, 2013 Has anyone bothered to check the m/depth and does the ssd10 even fit the way he wants If you want loud and can power them correctly the sa8v2 x4off ported at 32-33hz will do the job If you don't plane to through 3k at them and drop $750 on subs alone the look for something else Like 2x 10 If you using.a prefab don't go ported, stick to sealed If your going sealed http://www.emfcaraudio.com/sundown-audio-sd2-10-dual-2/ 4 off on 2k at1ohm And they get loud for a sealed sub
boom50cal Posted May 4, 2013 Report Posted May 4, 2013 SSD 10's are a tad under 6.5 inches from base of motor to the bottom of the gasket. I know because I have one. If you build your box with 1/2 inch wood then you can get away with a 4 inch top depth and 8 inch bottom depth as the outer dimensions of your box. Once again, I know this because that is how my box is set up. Price/performance, the SSD's are his best bet, then later down the road he can upgrade to a pair of BL's because BL's are also a tad under 6.5 inches top depth. LsChevy Posted May 4, 2013 Author Report Posted May 4, 2013 so the two ssd's or bl's would be louder than four sa8's?
boom50cal Posted May 4, 2013 Report Posted May 4, 2013 It all depends on the box. SSD's or BL's would be a lot more simple and I think you would like them more. 4 SA-8's is cool to have but I think you would expect more out of them than what they would do. 2 BL's on 3.5-4k or 2 SSD's on 2-2.5k is my recommendation. My SSD is on about 900w when my voltage is good, tuned at 34hz, and it slams everywhere from 28hz-60hz. The 8's would probably have a bit more trouble digging down below their tuning, but it all depends on your box and power. john253a Posted May 5, 2013 Report Posted May 5, 2013 I got my sa8 at 33hz on 200rms each And I play down to mid 20's no problem, high passed at -6db 24hz and a second at -24 at 20(built in to amp)
CleanSierra Posted May 5, 2013 Report Posted May 5, 2013 The serious fact of the matter is, you're not going to get TERRIBLY loud with an under the seat box in your truck. Built right, either setup you choose will sound good AND get decently loud. You'll spend a lot less on subs by going with 2 10s rather than 4 8s of the type you're looking into. If you can fit 2 10s on the face(baffle) of the box, do that with a port in the center of the subs firing forward. Fi SSD would be a good choice, and so would a Fi Q as a VERY musical sub with tons of Xmax(Id run this option of you have room for a bunch of port, which might not be the case). Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
CleanSierra Posted May 5, 2013 Report Posted May 5, 2013 BTW, we can't tell you what we be l louder in your truck, we don't know. You'd need someone that has EXTENSIVELY tried both serious in the same truck. We can guess and make assumptions, but there isn't a YES or NO. We can give you opinions on how we would do it, but at the the end of the day, it's your vehicle, build what makes you happy Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
LsChevy Posted May 5, 2013 Author Report Posted May 5, 2013 I'm seriously thinking about have two enclosures one with multiple 15's or 12's and one for under the seat
