Caps are differently arranged, dual inputs. Carrys a 4300 watt rating vs the previous 3500 watt rating. New one is fused at almost 800 amps between the two runs... Previous one was 400 amps. You are thinking of the AQ 3500v.1 that amp had the original 1 set of 0ga inputs along with the different board layout. The AQ 3500v.2 had a redesigned board, dual inputs, and a higher power rating. As for it being fused at 800A that is not true at all..The v.2 is fused at a recommended 380A that would be 190a per input. So 190 on one set of inputs the other 190 on the 2nd set. I really thought so too, but.. the amp is rated at 4300 watts @1 ohm and fused @ 380 amps per power wire on 0 gage wire. It is rare that your amp will pull that much amperage so we usually recommend fusing at 250-300 amps per power wire. Each, your battery can send it's max amperage down each power wire to the amp. im not manufacturing these numbers. I read about the " 380 amp per" and what I believe they are talking about is if you are running two 3500s in a linked/strapped configuration then that would be the fuse rating of " 760 for the pair". Lets not forget here that the Amperage a wire can carry also depends on its length... A 2 foot section of quality 1/0 can carry a higher amount of amperage safely than a 20 foot section can. Impalalpine Posted November 28, 2013 Report Share Posted November 28, 2013 I tend to think of it less in terms of efficiency loss, (as it does 86% at 4 ohms) but in terms of the amp simply being overbuilt. I mean because an amp can put up with 780 amps of internal current doesn't mean that it calls for that all the time. Seems to me the amp is just a tank, and could consume my batteries all at once if it wanted to. It will probably draw 400 (or more) amps worth of current at one ohm (in an ideal world) but It can internally put up with double that.
