I would not choose Rockford amps for SQ either... They are as good as new Alpines to me.

For SQ mids/highs amps I recommend you look to Zapco (older models), Arc Audio, Xtant, Linear Powr, etc...

I'm gonna hate

Lots of so-called "old school" amps made here in the US from the 80-90s and rarely early 2000s are very good for SQ also. Look for older pieces from companies like PPI and US Amps if it interests you. Older equipment can have reliability issues.

EDIT: Don't short yourself worrying about wattage, looks, or availability. I also recommend a head unit from this time period, modern "SQ" head units are far from what they claim to be. No unit with a built-in amplifier, bluetooth module, and iPod control is going to be less noisy than one from not long ago that is strictly a transport and DAC. These are the sort of seemingly trivial things that SQ guys come to fret over.

I'm gonna hate

Hey, No is strictly a 60/40 split no arm rest or passage at all.

Also im looking into a nav deck now (better now then later) i was looking at the new Pioneer AVIC-Z150BH what yall think? also keep in mind i was corrected earlier that what i was really wanting is not SQ but rather SQL

Well with NO passage I feel like it will be harder to get the L part in SQL. what about speakers in your rear deck? Would you part with those and use the deck to port your bass through? I can tell a huge sound difference with the seat fully up (sounds like its coming from another car) vs when I fold my arm rest down (sounds like I have 10's on about 1000 watts... To when I fold the seat down (real results, pressure and flex) I'm even taking this a step further this summer with my rebuild. Instead of a rear facing box I'm flipping it and sealing it to keep from losing pressure with the trunk lid. Obviously you can't do tht with a seat that doesn't fold or even have an arm rest passageway. But I've seen people do a ghetto port into the cab just doing a rear firing box and taking the rear deck speakers out and leaving the holes empty or actually building a nice sealed off ported or 4th order enclosure that uses the rear deck to get in the cabin, and when I say sealed off they sealed off all other holes leading to the trunk besides the port. So covering the rear deck in deadener and using foam and other sealing techniques. This all might be more then your willing to do but I figured I would share it.

Wow, well that changes things....no my car is a 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer ES-SPort and has no rear deck speakers only one on each door. should i go back to a sealed box then or still do the ported box?

So you have a rear deck with no speakers and no passage through the back seat. Look under your rear deck from the trunk and tell me if its solid metal or would sound go through it?

Go take a couple good pictures of your trunk, the bottom of your rear deck, the top of your rear deck, and anything involving the back seat.

Also so that means you have speakers in each door?
