Also I am running my power wire through the factory grommet by the driver side door. And it was a PITA to get it through there.

LOL I have 4 4ga runs going through the same grommet on my truck, had to use lube to get them all through lol. But at least there is a practical and easy way on select chevy trucks, my gf car is retarded trying ot find a good place to run wire.

That's what I'd do. Drill holes and use a jigsaw lol. Your shit is so clean for bare mdf. Any plans on painting it yet? I think white/black would look killer

I have cut every board with a jigsaw haha. We have those big saws, skill saws, and a table saw but I don't like the inconsistency of them. What I plan on doing is making the amp rack black carpet and the box a faux leather or real depends on cost. going to put a foam padding all over the box before a cover to make it soft. But before any of that I need to finish up all of the woodwork.

I had to use lube and solder the wire to a welding rod to have something to pull it through instead of just wasting my time pushing it through.

Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist?

I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . .

What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself

but what has drawn your attention

in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums

An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space

Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears,

thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.

Just saw the videos that shogen posted on the other thread of flaring. I might do it if I'm not to happy with these results but I don't really like the look of the flares, and of course I know that it all depends on the bowl.

  • 2 weeks later...

Long time since I have done anything with the build. Started working on a new port design since I am tired of messing with aeroports.

Also switched over to Google Sketchup. I like it a whole lot more for box designing than Inventor. So much easier to move you cut outs around to see what works best.

just a suggestion...everyone that has guided me says if port is 4in you want atleast that off of a loading wall...in your case would be passenger side wall. should help with noise. im only suggesting this for your next build.

Thanks for the advice. But how far is the recommended distance for loading off a 4 inch port?

Changed my design a bit so I don't have port sticking over the amp rack, so that I can position my amps how I want.

everyone told me 4in...and that was when i had a 4in aero and a reg port......reason i believe this is when door was open it was alot less loud and port noise was apparent, so im assuming the farther the port is from any loading wall it wont sound as good

Hmm. I might move my box to the other side, I think there is about 2-4 inches from the B-pillar.

I have noticed with the passenger door open there is much more noticeable noise. I've got my last test tomorrow so lets hope I can get some stuff done.

I have almost exactly 3 inches from where the port would finish if I ported driver side.
