SnowDrifter Posted May 11, 2013 Report Posted May 11, 2013 Out of curiosity: Why do you want to go back to a sealed box?Sealed boxes are pretty easy. It's just LxWxD for volume ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
randyman78596 Posted May 11, 2013 Author Report Posted May 11, 2013 the ported box im running right now is 24"wide x24" long,18" high..port is 16.5 high by 19"long...torres calculator was used to calculate it..supposed to be 4.0 cu.ft @35 hz ..im just wanting sealed enclosure qualities, this box isnt working out for double bass drum and techno beats very well...it does shake the block on rap but thats not what im looking for..
john253a Posted May 11, 2013 Report Posted May 11, 2013 Tune it higher and it will play higher Or tune it lower and try for a flatter response Another thing to consider is 2x e15 sealed will take the gross as single ported And 2 may give you more of what you are looking for
Joe X Posted May 11, 2013 Report Posted May 11, 2013 Well you missed to mention port width, your spec works out for a 3" wide port, group delay can be improved on a ported design to help it acquire some of the qualities sealed boxes have but anyways if you just want sealed, here it is, tried to adjust dimensions so that you can build from the available sheets you have: Enclosure Specifications:Vb = 2.5 ft^3External Height = 18 inExternal Width = 24 inExternal Depth = 14 inCut Sheet List:* All Dimensions in Inches.* Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts.External Enclosure Parts:Front & Back = 24 x 18Left & Right Sides = 12 1/2 x 16 1/2Top & Bottom = 24 x 12 1/2 Assembly guide (generic dimensions):
randyman78596 Posted May 12, 2013 Author Report Posted May 12, 2013 Awesome sir thank you very much,i drew out my cuts on the boards late last night and came up with 23x16x16 and after sub displacement came up with a tad more than 2.5 ,would the box benefit from polyfil?
Joe X Posted May 12, 2013 Report Posted May 12, 2013 Probably so but is mostly helpful when your box is on the small side.
randyman78596 Posted May 12, 2013 Author Report Posted May 12, 2013 sounds good thanks a ton for ur help.
