john253a Posted May 12, 2013 Report Posted May 12, 2013 all im going to through up here is, its easier to build a sealed and easier to get a flatter response or sq tune first time where as ported not so easy first time, but not that much harder either, if it was me 6 ported or 8 sealed, if go 6 ported but if i could do 10 or more sealed and feed them the same power per unit, as 6x ported, idd do that as 66% more cone and 66% more power (@10 units) would suit my music choises more
Daniel Schneider Posted May 12, 2013 Author Report Posted May 12, 2013 thanks for the help guys. i have limited space to work with. so it came down to one or the other. i know there is going to be a freq difference as ported tends to hit lower notes. i just wasnt sure what box would be he loudest.
Daniel Schneider Posted May 12, 2013 Author Report Posted May 12, 2013 i was on a tight budget so i bought 8 power acoustik 15, but i can only get enough room for the 6 ported or 8 sealed. i have wall designs for each one, and ported is nice. but 8 is good too.
kjstoken360 Posted May 13, 2013 Report Posted May 13, 2013 What kind of music do you listen to? If you listen to hiphop gangster stuff probably should go ported, but if you don't then maybe go sealed. 2005 chevy tahoe heated seats dvd player sunroof 2 kicker 15 in solobarics 1 zx1500.1 amplifier sirius xm radio with bose system

Hiphop nation vs. octane, so im having a crisis on which to use. sealed for octane, or ported for hiphop, but wouldn't sealed work for hiphop? But ported wouldn't work for octane so idk. 2005 chevy tahoe heated seats dvd player sunroof 2 kicker 15 in solobarics 1 zx1500.1 amplifier sirius xm radio with bose system

Tight bass= good for rock since its short notes on the bass guitar and the drums. Ported is loose bass and is good for long rolling notes and longer booms right? 2005 chevy tahoe heated seats dvd player sunroof 2 kicker 15 in solobarics 1 zx1500.1 amplifier sirius xm radio with bose system

Tight bass= good for rock since its short notes on the bass guitar and the drums.Ported is loose bass and is good for long rolling notes and longer booms right? Says who? My ported box plays tight and punchy. And plays low notes. To be honest... It plays everything. A properly designed(not store-bought) ported box will sound just as good as a sealed box. Actually.. Better, since you can tune it for a flatter response. It's also louder than a sealed box. The only caveat is that it's bigger than a sealed box. So if you have the space, I generally suggest ported ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
