i been crunching numbers for days and i just cant get the space for 8 15s ported.

what is your guys opinions. what is gonna be the loudest?

no particular brand in mind just in general whats gonna be better.

I vote 6 15s ported. But there are a lot of other install dependencies

ported is louder. sealed sounds much cleaner. i always liked the way a sealed box sounded all around but also like how brutal the ported sounds

You need to hear a good ported box then lol

Edit: I think you can get brutal with 8 15s. Even if they are sealed lol

my box is a good ported box. it gets very brutal with just 2 18's.. im just saying sealed boxes have a different kind of bass to it where it get punchy and very flat.we all know sealed boxes and ported have a different tone to it so dont try and be a smart ass about it. and yes 8 15's will be brutal in a sealed box but 6 in a ported box will be devastating

No one's being a smart ass lol. No need to get snippy.

I'm just saying it's all in the design. You are talking about that smooth, reserved sound sealed boxed have right? You can design a ported box to sound like that (I've done it). But it still has the efficiency advantage of ported.

I don't think it's entirely accurate to make such broad statements about how they sound when it's really all about your design goal that determines that.

Plus: I doubt OP is trying to go for a clean, balanced setup that adds a bit of depth/richness on the low end when he is measuring for the most he can fit in a given space.
