ncc74656
i see around the net lots of amps rated at 16V, lots of people showing off there 16V electric... how do you do this, does it benefit you, and is it worth it? running kicker, mtx, and eclipse amps with a factory High output alt what is required to boost the voltage? also does this make it easier or harder for the electrical system to keep up power to the subs (all else being equal)? nothing, gutted
Tarball
Short answer - stick with 12v bat 14v charge. If you want the power advertised at 16v for amp X then buy amp Z rated at that power for 14v. meridianofinsanity
It's a lot of work for smaller system but for bigger systems that are trying to squeeze ever watt out of their system it helps with voltage drop and you charge in higher 18-19 volt range to get that from your alternator you need a adjustable vcm (voltage control module)and then you need a step down module to lower the voltage to the rest of the vehicle if you are looking to get extra power its easier to get 14v batteries and a vcm xs power makes some good vcm's

I ended up going back to 14v charging.Too much trouble trying to find stuff that will work with 16V without paying a buncha money
