Mixing Batts

Recommended Posts

Was thinking about picking up a cheap marine deep cycle wet batt to run as a secondary battery. I've run wet batts in my trunk before no problems. I was just wondering about mixing a deep cycle and a normal car battery with similar capacity if it would damage one of the other. I know you are not really supposed to mix wet and agm but I figured this setup would work. Thoughts?

agm doesnt mix with regular batteries.

resting voltage is different one would damage the other in the long run

Theres a million threads on this lol

He said deep cycle wet batt. So it wouldn't be mixing batts? I would put a wet cell bat in my car but that's just me.

Edit: I ment to say wouldnt*

For one I would never put a wet/acid battery inside of my vehicle because of the chance of it spilling and the fumes it puts off when venting.

You do know they are all lead acid right? Unless you get some specialty battery like a lithium ion

I am not putting it in the cab, I am putting it in the trunk. If you own a Dodge Magnum or Chrysler 300 you would know that they put WET batteries in the trunk of these vehicles from the factory so obviously it is not as dangerous as everyone makes it out to be. Batteries only vent and spew acid when they are not used within their limitations, over charged or going bad. They also sell battery boxes that you can put your battery in that will catch acid if it does boil over...

I was just wondering if a deep cycle would be better than a normal starting battery. Sorry if the title was misleading...
