Any luck with the planer?

And idk what else you can do then just work at it with a rough file, or beast wood file.

Maybe take a trip to harbor freight and pick a cheap on up and try it out...might have better luck then sandpaper.

a table grinder would be the same as a file but faster

Edit unsure bout pricing at harbor freight (been forever since I've been in there) but I've seen a good skill table grinder for $60 at wally world

Fucking love Alan you goddamned fucking super nerd lol

When Alan uses big words I don't understand

It's warming up enough that the donut-punching cyclist douchenozzles are getting their two wheeled fagmobiles out.

Everytime I see a guy driving a mini cooper I cant help but think he loves cock & (2/29/16)-My wife just bitched at me about throwing out things we don't really use. My response of well we don't really use your vagina so should we throw that out was evidently not the right response. I had to leave the room.

I missed Alan.

ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy ggggggggggggggoooooooooooooooossssssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

this STUPID ABS plastic is so annoying! It's just too thick but a few 1/10ths of an inch, the top plate squeezes the 2 halves, then it starts to basically bulge out / flare out even wider around the magnet pole, so the top plate can't fit around it! And I can't get it thinner, I tried sanding it, did nothing.

So I kept my promise of going for it, but it didn't work lol.

I need your help ASAP. How can I thin out the ABS pipe? I already cut it into 2 pieces but it won't work, the plastic just won't compress enough to let the top plate slide over. ANY IDEAS TO THIN IT OUT ARE NECESSARY. I've tried grease and WD-40 like crazy, won't budge once it hits the same spot, tried jumping with all my force onto the plate, won't move. The only way it will work is thinning it out. I have no pneumatic tools at home, so give me any of those suggestions by tonight and I can't use my boss's compressor tomorrow, otherwise give me something else I can use whenever.

This is the tube:

I ONLY NEED TO THIN OUT THE BOTTOM 5 INCHES, SO ANY IDEAS ARE WELCOME. PLEASE!!!!!!!!

Try what I did, and cut up equal size pieces, using them vertically.

I had to do that because of the same problem you are having.

Worked perfect for me, maybe it can work for you?

That fixed the bulging issue? Because the problem isn't that it's just too thick no matter what, it's that the plate squeezes the tube a fair bit, so that the par around the pole widens out making it impossible for the top plate to slide over. I was trying to find some sort of clamp/brace to hold it but couldn't even think of something that would be removable. Because if I cut it into 4 I suppose I might be bale to hold them flat/pull them away from the middle so that it doesn't bend like it does now, but having the lower end stay flat against the pole might be a challenge, as the plate has to go down flatly, it can't really put one side down first since the gap is so tight.

(if all that makes sense lol, I'll explain again if not.)

Oh whoops. Thought I had posted it earlier, but I've been trying the bondo plane, and it seems like a lot coming off, but it's really really really slow. So I'm going to use my boss's compressor and grinder tomorrow. It might have been better with a wood planar or something with a sharp single blade. The bondo planar is not super effective for such a curved tube, and bracing it to hold down firm was a real challenge in itself, let alone plane it.

Well, I just read through all 39 pages of this. I have no useful input (lathe was my suggestion, but you already ruled that out..) so I'm just going to sit back and watch. Good luck!! Can't wait to see this thing come together

it was already cut in half almost a week ago. I could see quite a few problems trying to lathe half a tube.
