JUST FOR A TEMPORARY DISPLAY! I still have to fix the screw hole for the basket, attach the aluminum spacers, solder the VC leads, glue the spiders, and most importantly align the coil to avoid rub.

But here's what it should just about look like when that's all done.

it's on the last page if you want to see pics, but I used a pneumatic die grinder and went at it for about 15 minutes on each one to grind it all away.

lol, that doesn't have to do with it, making a mistake that can't be fixed is everything! That was the most critical step yet, the next is aligning the VC without any rub. But the combination was definitely the 2nd most important. I used to weigh about 192lbs in 8th grade at my largest, I've since then lost and kept off the weight, though I won't deny this: having 50 more pounds might have made this easier on my 1st attempt. The video I put up later will show you why lol.

man, that coil is going to rub something fierce.

Might consider putting some kind of low friction coating in the gap and on the coil to reduce wear.

Ceramic strip shims might work, just use small vertical (or screw-style) strips glued to the coil so you leave a lot of coil exposed to the air to help keep the coil cool.

Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through.

If you put a short "dome" or just a beveled piece (only has to be 1/16 to 1/8" thick maybe) on top of the pole it will keep the coil in the gap if it jumps above the top plate :)
