flood77 Posted May 25, 2013 Report Posted May 25, 2013 ok if this sounds retarted sorry i was looking over my setup when i discovered the positive from my sub is going to the neg to my amp.i called my installer and he told me they check polarity and that was the best way to wire them. is this infact true?
TaylorFade Posted May 25, 2013 Report Posted May 25, 2013 Lol. Is this a single sub setup? If so... it doesn't matter, really.
flood77 Posted May 25, 2013 Author Report Posted May 25, 2013 Lol. Is this a single sub setup? If so... it doesn't matter, really. no i have 4 subs and 2 amps, so 2 subs wired at 1ohm to one amp and the same for the other 2
SnowDrifter Posted May 25, 2013 Report Posted May 25, 2013 Easy way to check is to unhook wires from your amps and hook up a 9v battery. The subs should push outward. If they suck inward then they are out of polarity ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
STEvil Posted May 26, 2013 Report Posted May 26, 2013 are some of the subs mounted in reverse? MickyMcD - "Capable of making some serious trouser flapping volumes at where's-my-testicles frequencies, the Servo-Drives used to be fairly jaw dropping..." Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it. The wire is bound to wiggle (due to driving or flex) and the casing will eventually wear through. Hammerdown... 1% no links to outside websites, business related FB/YT pages allowed.
flood77 Posted May 26, 2013 Author Report Posted May 26, 2013 no all forward facing,if thats what you meant
SnowDrifter Posted May 26, 2013 Report Posted May 26, 2013 Pop test. Pretend the positive and negative on your battery are the positive and negative on your amp. All the subs should move out. If any move in, your shop messed up and they are trying to cover their behinds ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444

12volt_Trini Posted May 26, 2013 Report Posted May 26, 2013 Well no then something is definitely wrong....i have had expierence with a 4 sub system already like this....i had to reverse the polarity on one amplifier to stop cancellation....the phase shift was not taking it out completely....i found this strange but it worked....
