goodvibez Posted February 22, 2014 Report Posted February 22, 2014 So yeah not much time to work on this but I got them wrapped during lunch and laid some smd sunflash on one, the other I did after work but not enough sun so it sat overnight soaking. Had some lifting issues because I wasn't able to staple any of this it was all done with spray adhesive. staples don't like the wire mesh speaker grill stuff so I got a few into the mdf ring on the second one but it kinda tore up the fabric and didn't work out. Ended up cutting some of it out. Then put some tape on to build a barrier filled in the voids with some great stuff! then when I pull the tape off I should have a good foundation for some more fiberglass and bondo to shape it. for now I wait till its dry..... Funny how the people who have a louder system than you will usually give you a compliment about your setup because they know how much blood, sweat, time, and money you put into it. The people who criticize or try and one up you....have a p.o.s to no system at all and will tell you all about this "other" guys system! Saddley I'm sure if I meet this "other" guy...he will probably tell me he thinks your just as annoying as I think you are! I'm not compensating, just proud of fabricating! Kinda slow but I have a feeling things will be going a bit more consistant and should be getting some stuff done...we will see. I only have a an hour maybe two I get to work on this. Believe me my friend, I'm usually in the same boat as you. Matter of fact, I'm back to that now. I got a special reprieve from my wife on that one because of Autorama. So now things will slow way down. But that's fine. I prefer it that way so I can take my time, satisfy my ocd way of life, and get things done right. There will be changes on mine for sure I know already. Just not sure which ones yet. keep up the good work man. I like those pods. Nice save. Keep at it buddy, I'll be watching! goodvibez Posted February 22, 2014 Report Posted February 22, 2014 well put in a couple hours on these door pods used a drum sander on my drill and sanded down the expanded foam, worked really well! I am really glad I filled in those voids with it. then did a test fit, man I am excited for these! Debated on how I am going to mount the tweeters and then decided to use the surface mounts that originally came with these, so I used a hole saw to counter sink the surface mount slighty. then a little CA glue and they are mounted then I decided to mount both sets of tweeters in these door pods. Made sure to take my cut off wheel and get some nice deep grooves in there for the bondo to grab to. then slung some mud! FYI this bodo is made to bond to plastic but you do have to prep the plastic quite a bit. Once the tweeters are bonded in there I'll use regular body filler on the rest of this. . I would recommend it, but I will say its not the best. I think second skin does make a better sound dampender, and also looks better. but I felt I could put the money I saved towards the actual system. My last truck I did the sound dampening in stages and just bought small packs over time this time I just wanted to get it all done and over with(still have more to do sadly) and didn't feel like spending over 400 bucks on deadner. if you have any other questions or anything just pm me Funny how the people who have a louder system than you will usually give you a compliment about your setup because they know how much blood, sweat, time, and money you put into it. But i think ima try murder mat its not to much more and it looks cool meh i just need it to stop the pannel rattling not worried about make the car not being loud
