KiKaZz74
Ok so I heard my first sq car today. And surprisingly its someone in my family. Lol. But after talking to him and hearing his car I'd like to look into a nice set of comps and an amp and hu. About $450 for all. Some wuestions I have tho. What's the difference between tweeters? Pros and cons of inverted dome. Titanium dome silk dome? I think silk is what I'd want cuz his were inverted but kinda harsh off the windshield. And what would be a good set to look into? Active if possible. Also I'd like decent midbass. And an amp and a hu to go with all this. $450-$500 I can sell the current hu and front coaxials. I'm keeping the rear coaxials. Maybe run off hu. But any help is awesome guys. Thank you. Cody C. White Lightning
Just looked through your build log and can not see a pic of your doors, dash, A-pillar, or kick pannel areas ... No need to suggest equipment until we know what you have to work with ... This can be a fairly simple upgrade to sound better with good pics of the areas I asked for is posted up ... Of course, the better quality you want to go, the more money you fork out ... totally up to you. But just the addition of a pair of imageing tweeters can help you greatly !!! KiKaZz74
i got pics of doors dash and pillars. im fully against kicks just because of my size. thats right where my feet go so id break them. id like them but cant deal with them. i was thinking a tweet in a pillar and mids in doors in stock spot. just seal them to door panel and door brace and deaden behind. run active if i could. and probably not a great idea but i was thinking stay the same and go the new hifonics brutus line and pick on of those 4 chans. but that can be decided. can anyone explain the difference in tweeer domes and dome materials to me please? pics. CleanSierra
So here is my PERSONAL opinion of your current options. I'm a HUGE Kenwood nuthugger and the eXcelon line it's great. However, you'll need to get HIGH up in the lineup to find a deck that has a 24 bit DAC and digital time alignment. I thought about running one of the newer Sony double dins because of the 4V outs and the EQ functions. I don't believe those units, nor the single dins have time alignment. So that Sony isn't in the ballpark for SQ, plus it doesn't stack up to the 4V outs of the Kenwoods. The only Pioneer I see that's worth a damn is the 8500. The Alpines that you've chosen aren't the best either. Kenwood or the one Pioneer I mentioned are your best candidates. Next amps. I personally run the same Fosgate you are interested in and it's a badass amp. Hifonics are power hungry. Not to say they are bad amps, but you'll lose efficiency over the Fosgate. Lastly components. Silk domes are probably the way to go for you. The T2s by Fosgate I believe are aluminum or titanium. You might consider a tweet that is less harsh. I've heard that the T1s can sound a little less harsh than the T2s. I've always liked silkies and they are very nice for sound quality. I was really pleased with my RE Audio silk domes To be honest, I don't think a "real" SQ setup can happen with your budget. If your smart about buying the right products and installing them properly, you might me ok. Also, I'm much less qualified to answer this question than AI James or Randal(Cablguy). Whatever they say trust it as fact. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
CleanSierra
P.S. That took me a ton of time to research the HUs in question to give you a good answer. KiKaZz74
What re set do you have? But I hear you. I just found ones in my range. I just want something louder and clearer than these damned coaxials off hu power. How about the skar comps? But would it be better to go on and find a speaker and a tweet seperate? I've only ran sony and jvc hu so I'm down to try anything. I think that 8500 will be what I get maybe I could add $40more. This is all a maybe. I'm hoping I can. But u think the amps would work? Just trying to match stuff.
