When you download a song from iTunes on an iPhone, what format is it and is it possible to get it as a wav instead?

It's 128 kps AAC, and if you want wav., buy the physical CD and extract the wav. file from it, you'll get a 1411 kps file. If you want to run lossless on an apple product, then use Apple Lossless or the format .aiff.

Oh ok I see. Is apple lossless good? And can I convert my 128kps file to apple lossless in iTunes? (On the computer, of course)

Apple lossless is equal to Flac. You can but you won't gain anything cause it's already compressed and won't sound any better.

So I guess when you download music that's mp3 it's clipped? So like if I would pirate some CDs then there's a good chance they would be clipped?

LOL Itunes is not 128kbps AAC anymore, its 256kbps

OT: It has been said plenty of times before....SOURCE DOES NOT FUCKING MATTER. You can pirate, buy Amazon, buy from Itunes, buy pressed CD. If the song was clipped during production then it will be clipped in any format. If its clean from production then it will be clean no matter what.

On that note, worry more about your headunit and amp settings rather than the music clipping. A clipped signal before clipped music is where the true harm will come from. If your signal is clean then you can get away with some clipped music, just know if the song is clipped by using Windows Media Player and keep the volume lower. Unless a song distorts (i.e. Gucci Mane - Swing My Door, Cousin Fik - Shot a Brick) audibly then don't play it. I myself worry more about clipped sub bass than I do clipped kicks

been using it for years... best converter EVER!!!! it's only a converted as in trading formats... so you can't "increase" the quality just because you made an MP3 a WAV file or made a apple file a FLAC file .... or if you made a 128k MP3 into a 320K MP3
