not really.. paisa is more acceptable then n***a.. paisa really does have a meaning no reason to get offended by it.. its like saying homie not n***a.. you call people paisa when they are from the same city/town/village/country. and it comes from Italy

n. means countryman or brother in Italian. The equivilent of "homie" to Italians and Italian-Americans.
Usually spelled paesano.
Sometimes shortened to paesan or paisan

Italian, usually said in reference to 'buddy, friend, mate'. Also in the diaspora used to describe Italians from same village your ancestors came from.
"You know Domenico, don't you? He's a paisano (from the same village)"
The Paisa or Paisas in "plural" are people who inhabit a region over the northwest Colombia in the Andes.
The region is formed by the departamentos (provinces) of Antioquia, Caldas, Risaralda and Quindío. Some regions of Valle del Cauca (north) and Tolima (west) belong to the cultural identity of paisas. The main cities are Medellín, Pereira, Manizales and Armenia.

Although the expression "Paisa" is of popular use as apocope of "Paisano" (one from the same country; countryman).

The paisas have been considered a genetically isolated population according with researches. They are predominantly European ancestry because it is said that the male Spaniards who settled the region during the 16th and 17th centuries came with their women.

Paisas are well known in Colombia for their kindness and welcoming aptitude to persons from other regions and visitors.
Bandeja paisa: It is the more traditional dish and is generally composed by carne asada (grilled steak) or carne molida (finely ground grilled steak), chicharrón (fried pork rind), rice, red beans, a slice of avocado, sweet fried plantains, a fried egg, a small white corn arepa, and sometimes chorizo (sausage). Bandeja paisa is also a very popular dish served in Colombian restaurants in Europe and the United States.

that's because people are ignorant. its not that its offending is just people who get offended by it because they really dont know what it means and they think you are making fun of them because you want to compare them with Mexicans that wear cowboy boots.. thats all. but its all ignorance to be honest. its just like our education keeps changing to fit the stupidity of people. many words have been changed in the dictionary because people couldn't say or spell the word right.. like the word obscuro people kept saying oscuro and couldnt get it right so they lowered the standard to fit that ignorance.

En cambio, la forma original obscuro requiere cierto esfuerzo para pronunciar la b junto a la s.

so people here can understand

Instead, the original dark form requires some effort to pronounce the b next to the s .

as you can see it was changed because people couldn't say it
