Already get me set up with a local shop for an estimate, and a confirmation code for a free rental car. So far, I will be paying only my $500 deductible, until they get with the other driver and her insurance company. Worst case, they call it 50/50 and my rates go up a little. Best case, I am "not at fault" and I get my $500 reimbursed and nothing on my rates. Also, if the other insurance company wants to go to arbitration, my company will stand behind me 100%, representing me for free at the hearings. One thing to consider is her husband is military, so there is a very real chance that they have the same insurance company. That would be an interesting battle. I have to say guys, I am still a little in shock that this went down like it did. You hear about road rage on the news, but damn, to have it happen. Crazy. And I had the same thing happen this weekend while on the bike. I was trying to pass a semi-truck going 15 under the speed limit (40 in a 55) on a two lane road and everytime I would look around to make sure I could pass he'd drive in the middle of the road. I eventually got around him but I'll never know what makes someone think they own the road and gives them the right to be a dick.

Quiet Posted June 18, 2013 Report Posted June 18, 2013 Count your blessings. She coulda really tried a PIT maneuver on you, and even at 60 that coulda fucked you up real bad. I'd say you got lucky as hell. And 50/50 is bullshit, but just like here in TX unless you go to court, it's all up to the insurance companies to sort it out. I got hit by a 15 year old that stole his brother's car, and the insurance company said it was 50/50 which was complete bullshit, I never got cited and the report blamed the other guy 100%. It is what it is. 2007 Pacifica Rebuild. Less quiet. Still not loud.
