AI James
they blow them to recone them to different impedances, or because theres something small wrong with them or something like that. In that ones case it was probably to make it a bigger sub
mrwigglezdj
pipo did that with his sound stream terantulas (sp) hurt alot of peoples feelings, but he only did it because he was geting a better sub lower ohms and the ones he blew had been thru hell and were showing major signs of fatuge and losseing db..so people do it in car and in home so they can upgrade due to the sub malfunctoing for the most part Quote Americas loudest work van2006 iasca heavyweight bassboxing champion at 150.4 db with 60second average TL8 memphis PR15s,12 memphis PR6.5's coax,4 memphis PR 1inch tweets

meade916
these guys are right on the money D.... most people blow their subs on purpose only because they know they are gonna take the "knife" to the old cone anyway so why not. For example (since i know you dont know what they are saying) if you have a dual 2 ohm sub right......you can get 1 ohm or 4 ohms out of it - but maybe your 2 ohm stable amp goes into protect at those impedances. What you do, if you can get the "soft parts", is you order a cone/coil "kit" that is appropriate for your needs in this case a dual 4 or dual 1. Then you recone it and now your amp doesnt go into protect because you have that 2 ohm load the amp is happy with. I hope im not confusing you, its sorta basic if you know it but totally chinese if you dont....but basicly they burn em up on purpose because they are going to put the proper coils in for their systems needs and you may as well have some fun if your gonna destroy the sub anyway Quote All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! D_Bass
so say they have a 2 ohm sub but they want the sub to be a 1 ohm but the sub brand doesnt have a 1 ohm. so they blow it to make it a 1 ohm right? if i got it anywhere wrong don't bother trying to explain it again. if i see it done i'll get it better. this is why im taking a class for this stuff Quote To Slide Sideways Or Not To Slide Sideways? ChevyBoy
ok. a guy has a sub thats dual 2 ohm. his amp is only 2 ohm stable and a dual 2 ohm sub leads to either 1 ohm or 4 ohms. so that sub is useless right now to him. if he recones it, he can put different coils in it. so just for the hell of it, he decides to blow it up. now since its blown, he has to replace the voice coils. so now he puts in the new 1 ohm voice coils. so now he can wire it in series and his amp will see 2 ohms. got it? he blew it up for the hell of it. the parts that blew were the parts he needed to replace anyway, so why not destroy them?
