Upgraded from Kicker to RF

Hey guys I wanted some advice on my recent upgrade and from the time I've spent reading these forums I figured this would be the best place to ask.

I started with:

2 Kicker Comp 15's in a sealed box powered by a Quantum Audio 2000 watt amplifier.

I enjoyed this setup for a while and the it was pretty loud but after a few months I wanted something louder. So I upgraded to Rockford Fosgates:

2 Rockford Fosgate P2 15's in a ported box powered by a Quantum Audio 4000 watt amplifier.

Between all 3 of the changes I made; doubling the power, higher rated subwoofers, and switching to a ported box, I was expecting it to be a lot louder. Unfortunately, these don't sound as loud to me. They do seem to have much better bass response, they hit cleaner than the Kickers did and also hit lower notes a lot better. The Kickers seemed to distort a lot at higher volumes and the bass notes would sort of become all one note if that makes sense, whereas these hit each note separately. So while I think these sound better, I don't think they are as loud.

My question here is, was this a wise decision? Also are they in fact louder than the Comps? This is my first setup with a ported box so maybe I'm missing something there. As far as dimensions and that sort of thing, I don't really know it was all installed by a local shop. I appreciate any and all responses and or advice!

Something is deffinatly wrong with the box. Subwoofer choice on its own does not make that much of a difference. They fact you doubled the power, and have a ported box. This new setup should be destroying your old one.

How strong your electrical is plays a huge factor in output. Throw a 3000 watt amp on shitty electrical you are still only going to get out what the charging system can put in. It it can't supply the current you might as well still be using the smaller amp...

Thanks a lot for the feedback! It could very well be any of the things you all mentioned. I haven't measured the box nor would I have the means to measure the voltage, but I can go out and measure the box later tonight. I will also take a look at the gains on the amp, I didn't set them myself. The electrical may be the issue. It is a Mazda 3 with stock electrical, battery and alternator included (100 AMP I believe.) Even with the previous setup I noticed the headlights would dim when the bass hit and with this new setup I'm sure it's gotten worse (although I haven't driven after dark with it yet.) As far as the battery, the guy at the shop did mention the possibility of needing a second battery in the future. I also have another amp (Jensen 400 watt) running my highs, so that could be taking a toll also. Would you have recommendations as far as electrical goes? Again, I appreciate all of your feedback.

I have an 05 Mazda 3 and its a 90amp alternator not sure on your model year. Definitely need the big 3 and another battery in the back at least. What size power wire are you using and is it CCA or OFC?

Class AB so not really not to mention that are not rated for anything higher than 14.4v x 120amp @60% efficiency would make 1036.8 watts @1 ohm

i hear it is also just a refaced 3000 so 3000=4000
