Jay L.
Hey there, I need a design for 4 sa-12's powered by a ab500.1. Max width is 45", height is 16", depth is 34". I currently have 1 18" mayhem in a 6 cu./ft. box tuned to 33hz. I think it's around 93" of port. Sub up/pass. side, port back/drivers side. Peaks at 45hz. I'm happy with this box, just wanna try 4 12's. I have 4 more and plan to wall it later this summer, but I want to see the differences for myself. If this info helps any.... Thanks in advance! Krakin
With that carpet, air vent, trim, and blue paint, it looks like my bedroom. I swear to god if I go home and find this I will love you. Krakin's Home Dipole Project http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/186153-krakins-dipole-project-new-reciever-in-rockford-science/#entry2772370 Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist? I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself but what has drawn your attention in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears, thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener. SnowDrifter
What's your listening goals?Hip hop? Decaf? Heavy duty c&s stuff? Rock? And your depth.. That is going all the way to the hatch right? ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444

john253a
Aim for around 42hz it the heigest Idd go and be musical You ain't going play much decaf at that through but you will meter well somewhere around 50 And why not just wall it now, And do it right the first time, that amp will have no trouble with all
Jay L.
I hear you John, Im doing a 50 now with the 18, well 149.6 at 40 hz. It peaks at 45 hz., I had a brain fart in the lanes, (first timer) and played 40 hz. only. I want to see what almost double the cone area does compared to what I have now. My current box is tuned to 33hz and my peak is 45hz. About 35 hz and down it just shakes a bunch of shit, roof gives up, and not much sound. *Edit*......me<reading, I misunderstood you. I'd want the 4-12's box tuned between 32-35. Your thinking a box tuned to 42 might peak around 50 HERTZ, right?
SnowDrifter
If you listen to Decaf I'd tune in the low 30s. Like 30-33ish. Just remember to leave at least enough space between your port and hatch as the smallest dimension. Like if your port is 20x6, leave 6" between the back of your box and the hatch ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
