the length a freq needs is based on the freq and not the box or tuning. the tuning and box is a big part in what affects your peak freq. if your looking to get the loudest at x freq or just trying to figure out what freq will be loudest in your car a good start is finding out what the resonant freq is. put a 8 or 10 in a sealed box as close to the center of your trunk as possible and get on a meter. run a sweep and then after finding what it peaks at put it on a meter agian full tilt and play about 3 freq lower then what the peak was from the sweep. keeping going up to a higher freq until your score doesnt go up anymore. thats your resonant freq.

now as a general rule of thumb on where to start for box tuning go about 10hz under your peak freq. if your resonant freq is 50hz tune to 40hz. then from there build more boxes or make the one box with changable ports. try raising the tuning a little at a time to see if your score goes up. then lower your tuning freq to see if your score goes up. where ever and however you get the highest score is where you leave the tuning at. from there you mess with stuff such as seat positions and sun visor position.

the loudest freq for you car will be build specific and only testing can get an answer for you.

singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.

I went from a Alpine Type R 8" sealed to a Sundown SA-8v2 ported in my truck.

I would have to guess it would be as loud if not louder now with the single Sundown as if i had two Alpines sealed, maybe closer to three.

As for power i ran the Alpine at 500w on a mrv-m500 and the sundown with 550w on the mrx-m55 (both Alpine amp's)

I will say that Alpine 8" took that 500w quite well in about 0.375 cubes.

Is the SA-8v2 similar to the v2 E subwoofer?

I found this near me.

No the SA8 is superior to the e8v2...but if 75 isn't bad for a e8v2. they have the v3 out now..better woofer. I see if sundown has any blown sa8v2..and build it yourself to save a few bucks.
