If your running it from front to back the wire will be capable of roughly 80a capacity to supply that amp with, so if it is the only thing your going to power then you'll be fine but if you have another amp to power i would get 2 ga to play it safe.

:wipes forehead: thank goodness k cool. cus I really don't have money to get bigger wire just yet lol. found out yesterday that my job is gonna be messing with my money. bastards always gotta hate.

What skullz said ^^

And I think a nice deep dark gloss purple would look sick on that amp, just make sure you tape everything off good and don't get any paint inside the amp.

Also for warranty purposes, make sure the amp works before you decide to modify it, lol

hell yeah. I'm already for it to go in... got the terminals on the wires today. gotta trim the sides of the lugs up tomorrow with the old faithful rotary tool. and get the mount for my modded amp out of the way. I'm semi thinking of making a simple rack out of the left over mdf from my box build. may hit home depot again to buy metal to weld up too... hmmm...

oh crap dude! I found out the hard way tocay that I have ZERO cooling fans on my car... so my car decides to over heat... Yeah over heated like a mother today :/ so I got to diagnose the exact problem tomorrow... YAY! I hope its the temp sensor snd not the actual fans :) so j got a busy day tomorrow thank goodness I don't work

THE MODS I GOT FLAMED FOR:

kinda dumb to show this but hey what the hell!:D here it is.

so now that I have my old amp out I can show what I did to it...

first of all I knew she was going to get hot... so I installed a fan for blow in and blow cooler air from underneath.

20130710_014700_zps61a321dd.jpg

20130710_014739_zps3ca1e188.jpg

and I figured that the lil slots in the side that the factory made probably wouldn't flow all that well so I put a fin cut in the bottom to help with the rest of the air movement....

20130710_014706_zps73f614df.jpg

its not pretty but actually in regular situations this amp ran cool as hell. almost too cool. I mean that's A LOT of air moving.

so here's how I hooked it up. the fan I mean

20130710_014716_zps6d7743e8.jpg

after finagling the heat dissipation slots I was able to slide the fans wites through... and hooked then to the remote and the ground. so when I hit the remote switch the fan came on to get the amp cooling even before it was turned on... kinda neat.

20130710_015937_zps5f8f8083.jpg

now the goal of this was to run a two two ohms loads bridged... caution: THE AMPS MANUAL SAYS NOT TO DO THIS! SO DON'T!

I figured this was going to be dangerous so I wanted to make it so that I could reverse it back to dual four ohms loads and make the amp happy in a quick kind of way. so this is how I did it. it's not pretty but it works and it served its purpose very well.

20130710_015858_zpsba045299.jpg

basically if I need to a could whip out my pocket knife and slice it or kill it and take the leads off which is how i ended up doing it. I didn't show the fuse trade or any of that but it wasn't science. if you want to do it you can... just know your car may end up charred!

No offence, but that isn't what gets hot on the amp that needs the most cooling.

Build a shroud to cover the amp with about 1/2" of clearance all around so the air can flow over the cooling fins and have the one end with the fan on it closed off with only the fan hole open to draw air around the amp for max cooling. You can make a shroud from anything like cardboard to sheet metal to plastic or anything that is solid enough to not collapse under the vacuum your fan will create.

hmmm... true... should have done it that way... actually thought about mounting old style cpu cooling fans like six of of em to the cooling fins. but I may think about whipping out some of my acrylic working skills to make a cooling cover for this... my mom is wanting me to put a sub in her ride so I may see if shed be willing to let me try that when the time is right. I may actually get that project under way this weekend. what type of cfm do you think would be best for this? also would making two separate pieces say to just to cover the fins themselves and be held on by the mounting screws be enough? like have a fan flange at one end of each side and just leave the other open? let me sketch something quick to illustrate. ... hmmm now I'm thinking again.... ouch! :D

is that a PSU powering an amplifier? that's awesome! nope haven't met or talking to Jimmy but he sounds like an interesting person with a brain to pick :D reminds me I have like three psu's to use... I may have to get some leds and creating some lighting for the ride lol... yay! but really it looks cool as hell but what is it?

Ouch man, reminds me of some rigging I used to do, lol.

As for the car overheating make sure the fan spins freely, if it does check the fuse and then check the temp sensor.

Easiest way to get the fan to kick on is to turn the a/c on.

Try not to drive it til you get it fixed, neon's are known for having head gasket leaks and overheating it can cause other issues to arise

I love rigging especially when it goes just as I want it to :D

I testing the temp sensor and it had like 7 k ohms of resistance. .. its only sippose to have 2k so I'm replacing it. :D I hope that's the complete fix. I'm surprised I haven't ruined something... cuase its acted up a few times :(

Lol, don't jinx it man, if I was you I would change the oil if it's been a while, and if the antifreeze is old I'd flush it, when those fluids get old and have been overheated they tend to break down faster.

I used to rig shit all of the time, then I got tired of looking at it and fixed it, lol
