Subs In A Trunk Of A Car, No Wall? How Loud Can They Get?

Recommended Posts

Currently the loudest trunk car in NSPL is doing a 153 legal, on the dash, TL score. He has a single Memphis 15" powered by a pair of Memphis 4Ks.

At autoramma there was a guy named Chris Fish (sp? Fisch?) that drove here (sac) from colorado I think it was...doing around 152-153 in a newer (2006-7) 2dr civic cpe.

2 Memphis 15's, 2 Memphis 4kw's, subs forward, port forward, right behind the seats w/ them folded down...he pulled one amp and dropped to a 151 to beat my 146.3 in stock 601-1800.

This was burp mind you not bassracing/streetbeat format.

i have a 93 accord coupe with two memphis PR 15s in the trunk... due to living in a small town in southern indiana i dont have a way to get metered. i do have a question for you tho amatt... you have your subs forward and port forward. i noticed that in your thread and tried it. my flexing went away, just by ear it sounded considerably quieter. so theyre subs back port back again. whats your opinion on the sub and port placement and its effect on the overall numbers that is put up?

did u completely seal it off from the trunk when u had everything firing forward?

ive heard different things really....either do it like i have it setup, or sub forward with ports all of the way back firing to the side, sub up and ports firing to the side, box pushed all of the way back (furthest from the back seats) with everything firing forward....but mind you these are all just for burps...not daily driving...its just so hard to say really, there is so many tiny variables involved when getting loud

but, being that we have the same body style car, how wide can your box be? b/c i think mine is at 33" right now and i might be able to go another inch or two wider....i was just wondering how you are able to fire your subs and port forward...being that you have two 15s?

i likes me some audio stuff...

It's hard...I have a 98 Cavalier and 8,000 watts and could only get a 149ish

Damn. So that's what 149ish DB sub in trunk material looks like.

I guess my 99' Camry XLe v6 and I have no chance of hitting 147 db's with only 1 15'' Fi BTL @ 3000 watt :(

I was planning on spending 2,500$ onto my next system upgrade for the Camry, but now I think I'm just going to stick with my weak sauce 600 watt SQ subs until I find money to get myself a larger vehicle.

I am guessing I'll only hit ~140db if I go with the 1 15'' Fi BTL sub in my Camry Trunk.

Can 140db on music vibrate the window's of people's homes? I've never heard 140db+ in person before so I don't know what it's like.

I wish there were sound audio competitions in Portland Oregon.

You can do more than 140 with one BTL and 3000w. My setup was tuned low and was only on 1000w when it was metered. I'm sure you can get close to mid 140s with a good enclosure and that much power.
